I agree with the principal , and it would be great to see it given a try , I would even go along with Starmer, although I don't like him much as a leader he is a pragmatist , and that is what would be needed . .
the down side to all this is there are two 'ready made excuses' for the tories...brexit and covid will take the blame for any amount of cock-ups.
Brexit is a shambles and Covid cases are rising again. The bonfires of useless PPE will burn for years. Illegal immigration has doubled and the NHS is struggling. Not great excuses tbh. "Ports across the country are threatening the government with legal action unless compensation is paid to cover the millions of pounds they've spent building new border control posts. The posts, due to be up and running this month, were designed to carry out post-Brexit physical checks on imports of plant and animal products from the EU - a measure that was to come into force from 1 July. But they may now never be used as planned."
Choosing the next Tory leader is like choosing which cubicle to take a **** in three days into a festival
aye, my point being they will use them as excuses and most likely bring russia/ukraine into it as well...them lot will never really admit that one of their own completely fecked up, a bit like 'that woman' living off the winter of discontent for years.
It’s funny because I run a not for profit organisation and do self employed work so I don’t want organisation’s and businesses to be in a **** state but do they think businesses having money or corporation tax cuts will actually solve the cost of living crisis ? It’s fantasy. The power is with the FD’s an board members. Will they take a cut mid inflation? Will they ****. I can hear them now - how do we find savings - staff wages, wastage- less staff, lower wages, make staff use their own cars, lower mileage, expenses, etc. it needs government action - living wage etc or lower paid people will plunge into poverty and claim from the taxpayers- can’t afford mileage go on benefits, make savings - make redundancies. I think the non dom elitist Sunak makes most sense economically as opposed to ‘lower taxes’ which benefit the rich more - but he’s robbing a living from Tax avoidance and making the poor pay for his wealth. In short the Tory ideology stinks and all those who vote for it spread the stench. In troubled times redistribution of wealth is the only way out. Poverty kills
If Johnson had been a wild card who broke all the rules, but was a great success, people would let him eat cake ... ... but he's made a complete mess of the job and almost everyone has turned against him. The Chris Pincher scandal just gave his colleagues the chance to get his hands off the controls before he did any more damage. Another year of this lunacy and the country would be in turmoil. As it is the whole thing will take some sorting out so I hope there's someone who can show some leadership and act with dignity. We need to believe in our government again after the damage that's been done. Covid: "So far 181,000 have died in Britain – a Covid death rate per million above France, Germany, Italy, Spain and most of the EU and caused by being consistently too late to lockdown and too quick to exit." And none of those countries had the benefit of being an island in total control of its borders .... ... our Covid response was poor, average at best.
We voted for Brexit because we didn't want a bunch of egotistical foreigners dictating to us and to stop immigrants taking our jobs .... ... thank heavens we now have some true Brits like Rishi Sunak, Sajid Javid, Priti Patel, Suella Braverman and Tom Tugendhat bidding to become PM and run the country. Fair enough they're all from immigrant families, some of whom avoid paying UK taxes, but we can be pleased we're shot of those expensively suited elitist privately educated politicians who are completely out of touch with ordinary working people
It could be worse... https://news.sky.com/story/tory-mp-...-high-heels-in-road-crash-court-told-12649926
"The MP was wearing a black leather mini-skirt, tights and high heels when he was involved in the car crash in November, a court has heard. Wallis, who came out as transgender in March this year, denied the charges."
Sunak it appears doesn’t have any working class friends. I honestly didn’t think that would even be possible until I saw that video
