I do like Doyle, he works his arse off and never gives the centre halves a moments peace all game long. This could creat the space that Gyan needs to finish the chances that come his way. It could work great as a partnership. Although I have to say I think that Journo doesn't know any more than we do. We probably could have just dished out half a dozen names. Would anyone else take Kenwyne?

for me the likes of Pavyluchenko would be a briliant signing

True but do you really believe we could sign a player of his quality?

Nothing wrong with making an offer mind but I think we still have a hell of a long way to go before we can land players of his quality.

I wish people would stop going on about Bent though. Ok so he scored goals [very important of course] but as it turned out he's just another mercenery who turned his back on the management and fans of the club that revived his career for money.

Pavlyluchenko?

I think so definitely. I don't particularly think he's a high quality player. After a few years to adapt his scoring record is quite average.

He's a decent EPL quality striker who could slot into most teams, but nothing special.

I think he's better than that, though he has had his off days, most Spurs fans rate him.

I never have dreams about the results of games but I woke up this morning feeling surprised that Swansea had beaten Reading <doh>

It was such a strong feeling that I had to check that the game is being played on Mon and not yesterday.

If that is the eventual result then Shane Long would be one target that I would be pleased with.

BTW Reading are favs by a whisker. Looking forward to the game, more than the CL final TBH.

I think Doyle is good news: fast, skilled and industrious.

The acid test? If we do land him, I bet anyone a packet of chocolate biscuits Wolves will be mighty miffed

I agree Shameless, he's a very hard working player who gives his all in every match he plays, unlike a certain K Jones!
Can we make it chocolate Hobnobs, because chocolate digestives give me heartburn?

Of course, you could always throw in a bottle of Gaviscon ;)

what like asa has trained with the first team all week, and will definetly start.

Oh he's good, just nothing particularly special.

08-09 - 28 apps, 5 goals
09-10 - 16 apps, 5 goals
10-11 - 29 apps, 10 goals

Over three years his strike rate has improved, but it still hangs around a fairly decent 1 in 3. It all depends on whether he'd improve on that. In a different team, could he get it down to 1 in 2 or better?

i was looking at his stats earlier,

18 goals in the league in 3 seasons compared to bents 53 or somewhere around that.

I think he's one of those players who is taking time to settle in and adapt. He's slowly improving the score rate season-by-season.

At Spartak Moscow he managed to score 89 goals in 141 apps, that's around 1 goal in every 1.5 games. Considering the jump in quality up to the EPL though, I think he would find it difficult to get to the 1 in 2 bracket.

but i think you said this before the wolves game?

i will try and find it, and if i'm wrong, i will admit it.

no my comments were about the west ham game, i stated that both he and anton had trained during the week and they are likely to start. and they did. fair play for acceptin you would hold hands up though

Why are we looking at signing a big player late on in the window get them in now, Doyle would be okay as a squad player but will he come to us knowing that?
