I'd rather get spearing back and send downing to Bolton. At least spearing put in some effort despite his limited ability, downing has neither. Can't understand why a player just won't try ,wouldn't we all love to have the chance and be in the position he is in. Never seen such a negative footballer. Not bothered about getting Ince but he would be 100 times better than downing even if he was ****e
Also Sturridge has as many prem goals as downing now after just 1 game compared to 50 odd (?) downing has played
I'd rather we gave Suso or Pacheco a run then see spearing come back, Ince join or Downing continue to play!

Not even sure he is playing for them. Pacheco would certainly show more attacking intent. Still not convinced on suso I think it is still a bit too soon for him.talented but a bit lightweight without great pace.
Downing symbolises the transfer problems ever since Rafa left. He's not a top 4 signing. He hasn't got the ability or mentality to rise to the occasion. Our squad is young and inexperienced and it showed against Utd, especially in the first half. We need some big match players to come in now. Sturridge has the experience at a big club and on the big stage and it showed yesterday. Sterling has gone off the boil and his productivity is minimal. It will come with time but he needs to be rotated.
downing exemplifies a passive sort of player. the best work he does is to get with 5 yards of an opponent and NEVER puts his foot in... you annot press with guys who have to be cajolled to close down (suarez constantly directing where to close down) and when they do they just dancing in front of a guy whos got the ball at thier feet and toying with it until they pass it. I hate kuyt but the one thing he did was get stuck in. he was so slow and had a bad touch but he got his rewards.... downing will get no rewards and so his return is pitiful
had the chance to get Sneider who would def have fit the bill. Experienced and real quality. Shame that even now our transfer policy doesn't really make sense.
Fair play for Downing. He has stepped up his game since Rodgers supposedly told him to 'do one'. Is he good enough for Liverpool? Squad player at best for me
