I have a feeling there is still a surprise in store. Normally, i'd say that our business is done, but judging by this window, god knows.
The same fans were taking the piss when we were selling all our best players and not spending the proceeds... there's a link somewhere and it should only take a couple of crayons to join the dots. For those wondering about FFP.... we will declare a profit (again) shortly and the new £££ from the PL will land in the next year's set of accounts. Don't forget Mike doesn't pay for advertising so if it looked as though we were over the FFP limit he'll just dig deep to finally pay for advertising to balance the books. Deals elsewhere will back up any notional value he attaches to an advertising deal so he will be well within the realms of normality.
The one thing I will say is with Ashley owning I have no concerns whatsoever about the financial side. When he sells, however..... Christ, on the basis of January I don't want him to go. I willed Shepherd out the door and got Ashley. Once bitten....better the devil.....every cloud....
Basically, the statement about 'bolting the horse on to the cart' was the truth. Whether we are cynical about the reasons [possible relegation and the TV money] you have to hand it to them. They've spent the money just like they promised. I can't really criticise any of the signings [Thauvin I am still undecided] as they seem to be a step in the right direction. If we manage to pull of the Berahino deal somehow then we really mean business.
We've only spent money we had in the bank so far. I don't think ffp is an issue as we stand right now.
I think if we get Berahino and a deal for a LB, there wont be much transfer business done in the Summer, I would hope a CB, maybe loan a LB and then sign Willems in the summer, but in terms of any £10million plus players, it would be doubtful. However with the squad we are putting together, I dont think we will need to spend like we have in the last two windows. A decent CB and LB could be done for 15M and then Doumbia for £7m if he does well!
