It was very much about shaking up the system. On the one hand, you had a candidate who had been firmly entrenched as an "insider" against a wild card. Every time he opened his mouth, his own people held their breath wondering what he would say next.
The surprise to me was that so many people were ready to take a leap off a cliff into the unknown, rather than settling for more of the same type of safe government. I guess I underestimated my neighbors' discontent with the status quo.
