So Mckay's in the clear.....I'm not digging up previous matters for the sake of it (I think you're all aware of where I stand with regards to MM), but I think this could have serious consequences for us going forward.

The telling part for me is the following phrases:

"serious concerns" over "the circumstances in which particular evidence provided to the FA had been given".

Sky went further stating the concerns regarding the evidence provided, had nothing to do with Mckay & Moody & that the matters have been referred to the authorities.

Does this suggest that the evidence provided by Tan's team is somehow tainted? If so it is possible that further action could be taken against Tan.

If this is the case I can see Tan just saying...sod this i'm off....

I know there are a lot of iffs & buts etc., but if Tan did submit false evidence (not only to the FA, but to the police) there may be problems for him.

Looks to me like the FA didn't know what to do as the texts were private. That was their get out clause.

I doubt if any action can be taken versus VT but undoubtedly he will be upset at the FA's intransigence. Whether or not that prompts him to take exit action, I don't know. It will still be very difficult for him to go and take his money with him because we haven't got it. However, a refusal to cover any more costs would also cause serious problems.

He needs to sort out the Hammam situation in his favour to give him some positive thoughts.

As much as Emperor Tan continues this fiasco the club will stay firmly in the ****. I dread to think how much his investigations have added to the clubs debt. The sooner he and his minions **** off the better even if it means plummeting down the leagues.

No good news around at the moment that's for sure, but it seems there's nothing like potential bad news to unite fans.

Oblivion in the lower leagues is seen by some to be preferable to putting up with the crap heaped upon the club by someone like Tan this past few years. To be honest, the route this club seems to be heading, I'm tending to have some sympathy with that.

I can't just sit back anymore in the hope that Tan and his acolytes will eventually get to know what's best for the club. He has no idea when to call it a day in the best interests of the club and its' supporters. This Mackay/Moody stuff apart which in truth is just another diversion from the football we all want to talk about is par for the course, but the real issue is there's been no direction or leadership on or off the pitch for far too long.

I realise at this time of the year that in the absence of any real matters football to discuss, this sort of headline will appear and take centre stage just like Morrison crapping in the street or the recent "incredible revelations" of previous club players.

If this season is going to become more about events off the pitch than on it, I'm seriously thinking of packing it in.

The future of the club is in Tan's hands. His loans are secured against the assets of the club so if he leaves there will be no club to support as nobody in their right mind would buy a club so much in debt. The reality is that the club and its supporters need Tan far more than he needs us. The past is the past and we should all move on.

A bit of a dilemma really.....Tan has got cardiff by the bollox and there is no way out unless a billionaire turns up to the rescue. but the problem is he will leave one day and take his assets with him so the longer he is there the worse it will become, It is a hell of a nightmare to be in that's for sure....

The point that seems to be missed by some is we were totally ****ed before he arrived.

The idea we're somehow in a worse position, almost more bankrupt, because of him is ridiculous.

The MM situation was obviously very personal for Tan. I think him crashing and burning at Wigan will have helped settle Tan down no end. I think Tan wanted to end MM's career. MM has pretty much achieved that on his own and will be lucky to get another chance at Championship level without rebuilding his reputation somewhere lower.

As for the implications for us - Whilst Tan's been undoubtedly childish regarding MM I really can't imagine him throwing his toys from the £100m pram over this.

Agree with all of that Steve. Lol!!! And in fairness; so far, Tan has given no indication of a desire to call in his loans. Why would he? He would lose most of it.

He won't pump in so much money again but it is not in his interests to pull out now. However when the Hammam matter is sorted it will be interesting to see if he capitalises loans as promised. To do that would clarify his intentions somewhat.

It's a known time scale though. The club can attempt to get on an even footing before then. That is definitely the rationale behind last season's fire sale.

I keep repeating myself but Tan's only option is to get the club to the PL. He's definitely changed his opinion on how that's best achieved but it's still his one and only business plan. If we have 2 or 3 seasons struggling to make ends meet at the bottom of the Championship or drop into L1 he might decide it's too far gone to be worth trying to save and write it off as a catastrophic loss. I cant see any sense in pulling the trigger till the parachute ends at the absolute earliest though.

I know the last accounts showed huge levels of debt but if it's pretty much all owed to Tan then in my (maybe misguided) opinion I think we're in a stronger position than trying to fight off HMRC on the court room steps. How Tan handles the interest owed to him is surely the key to the debt? If the club can wipe it's own arse without further investment from Tan he might not worry too much about getting money out. If we can be more stable he can sit back and see if the club can achieve promotion without costing him anything more. If he tries to get any serious money back via big interest and loan repayments then he's just going to make his own bad position worse.

I also can't see Tan walking away anytime soon, but unless Slade is just here as the short term fall guy for this transitional period, it doesn't stack up for me.

Tan knows full well that without a return to the Premier league he's lost his money. I suppose the point is how far and how quickly does Tan push it to achieve his declared goal of an eventual return to the top tier. A longer term strategy of consolidation and staying in the Championship makes logical sense with the parachute payments still to come, but it'll cost the club just to stand still.

Where we are now, complying with FFP must be a priority, but getting out of the Championship at the right end is difficult enough even with a good manager - with Slade running the show we have no chance in the short to mid term, and dropping out at the other end is equally as likely. The guy has given no indication of the managerial and tactical ability needed at this level, and God help him (and us) if by some miracle all the likely candidates for promotion this season lie down and let us get there through their failings.

If Tan wants to build something with a view to success before the parachute payments drop off, he should look around for a proven manager or even a progressive candidate who is far more likely deliver, otherwise we'll do well to stay where we are by then with the current footballing policies in place.

This past three years at the club has been littered with mistakes made by Tan and his chosen staff over footballing matters. I hope he's learned the hard way that throwing money at it will only bring lasting success with the right footballing expertise behind it. The short term euphoria of our Championship winning season was followed by an embarrassing season in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The apparent ongoing Mackay/Moody saga has just been part of it.

I agree Sparks, but they're 2 separate issues.

On the money side of things I think we see things generally the same way with regards to motives and plan.
Regardless of anyone's opinion of Tan to question his financial/ business track record is a little dubious unless you have experience and track record of being at the top of numerous multi million type businesses. The point I'm making in a clumsy fashion is, Tans wealth suggests we should assume he knows his stuff.

With regards to football:
Tan is absolutely ****ing clueless, knowing much less than most 12 year old arm chair fans about the game. It's no wonder a stadium filled with fans with an almost immeasurable combined football experience see him as a total joke when he tries to get involved in the football side of things.
I don't rate Slade and it's only hope not expectation that is behind my backing of the criticism of Slade. I do have a little hope for Trollope and I stand by my opinion that he/they walked into a **** storm and should be judged on the start of this season. There were some very small green shoots at the end of last season but I'm well aware the start to this season could be a disaster.
I think Tan has probably had the reasons/excuses I've mentioned for Slade given to him and is expecting results to massively improve, I don't think Tan believes the playing side of the club is in anything like the mess most of our support believes it is in.
