I sure hope so! I think it might be a struggle next season if we were to fail now. Its sometimes best to sneak in the playoffs last minute it gives a team a big lift and some momentum
I don't buy this 'don't deserve' crap. You're either there or you're not. Breezy - what's with 'teams in the top 8 that don't deserve to be there'? Look, the table doesn't lie. You'll have blips. Now is the time to stop being so bloody fickle, realise that you were unlikely to do as well as you did with 8 Prem League loanees and get a shot of realism. You're probably punching above your weight. Either that or stop bitching, get behind the bloody team and roar them into the playoffs.
Most of us would have been happy with top ten at the start of the season and probably got a bit carried away with our start & CC final display so we're about where most expected us to be, me included. While it would have been nice to get promoted it wasn't really expected unlike last year. Have to say the jacks are doing better than expected and will achieve their goal of staying up & deserve to from what I've seen of them on tv. Liverpool are not the team they think they are, just look at what happened last night.
we are not punching above our weight, we would have gone 4th if we could have hung on for the 2-1. but in the past few games we havent been good enough and on current form we dont deserve to go up, but over the course of the season we've done very well, and we just have to believe we can get in to the top 6...
Swamp Belief alone doesn't get you where you want to be and neither does "the crowd roaring you on" - ref. an earlier post. The last 4 or 5 games have shown that, simply, we are not good enough and don't deserve to be promoted this year. It is down to Malky to build on what we have in the summer and make sure we are good enough next season.
Look how badly Cardiff have played the last few months aussie & there a point out of playoffs & two out of 4th place . Some of the teams in the top six now won't be there come the end of the season . Cardiff may not deserve to be there but there are teams in the top 6 now that deserve to be there even less IMO . Blackpool & Birmingham won't make the playoffs IMO .
Whoever makes the top 6 will 'deserve it' if you want to use that word, Breezy. The League does not lie come May.
I agree with that aussie & it may still be Cardiff with the way the top teams ( excluding the top 3 clubs ) are playing .
Cardiff are having their bad patch at the right time, they'll come out of it soon enough, just you wait and see!.....
Blue Sheep you say we do not deserve to be in the playoffs .....................what a ridiculous thing to say ......yes we have had a blip and yes losing and drawing to bottom side teams but never belittle the great games we have won and played brilliant . The team im sure know at trhe moment we are not fireing on all cylinders but MMhas done a fantastic job since arriving and he should have all the support we can give him .
I don't disagree with you John. If you read one of my earlier comments I said that Mackay has done a fantastic job and has already outstripped any expectation I had for this season, especially considering what he had to start off with. I was just pointing out (for the sake of debate) that any team doesn't deserve promotion if they draw twice with the second bottom team from winning positions. I was also fairly annoyed when I started this thread and wanted to see the footballing views of others and it has produced an entertaining football related discussion. Something we don't see enough of on this forum.
Our season is over. Yes we have played brilliantly in some games, just not enough of them. I agree Malky has done a great job this season but is currently proving to be just as stubborn as DJ.
apart from the saints, reading and west ham the rest are not good enough. cardiff are certainly not good enough their defence is shocking and their goalkeeper is not much cop either, its a poor championship this season with just 3 that stand out but still not really that good and the rest are all about the same from bottom club donny to 4th place, none would be as good as the three that went up last season.....
Think you need some fresh legs, put a few of the tired ones on the bench, that will soon get them focused!..........
Agree Blue Sheep but its hard to have a convo with certain members from other boards always on the Cardiff board ....obsession? Anyways back to our beloved City , Think that any team in the top ten could win promotion as we have seen before the playoffs are a lottery ,Southampton and Reading for me the top two teams and def West Ham and maybe Brighton in the play off spots ...the other two places are wide open and anyteam putting a few wins together will be a threat . If only we had a target man with a pacey winger .........................but then again we are Cardiff City and we never take the easy route ,lol
sheep, but we've also beaten the top 2 teams in the championship? its the points total that counts, not the quality of opposition that you've beaten...before this drop in form we were playing some excellent stuff, we are 8th and within reach of the top 6, right where many bluebirds predicted we would be at the start of the season. john, we have a target man in gestede and a pacy winger in conway, he uses one but not the other for some reason...though i agree and extra wideman would have been nice....(lawrence was brought in as a right mid!). dai, our defence is shocking you say, i agree marshall isnt the best in the business but you'd be hard pushed to find better defenders than the likes of turner, hudson, naughton etc.. the 90th minute goal we conceded yesterday was due to the midfield not closing down, not the defence itself..
