Good result but KVY sent off right at the end - why make the challenge? Penney now has to come back in unless a new signing before Saturday
That didn’t make for much fun to watch. We made hard work of that and we’re really poor going through the middle. But for a bang in form and lightning quick right winger that could have been poor.

Tough old game, not pretty, failed to really control, and if one of their shots that hit the woodwork had gone in, it might have been a different result.
Burns and Carrol stood out, and flashes of Donacien brilliance, and Bonne giving that beauty of a pass set up Burns.
Jackson ineffective.

Good performance. We rode our luck at times but looked like the home side.
The discipline is becoming a concern though. We’re picking up lots of silly bookings and suspensions for time wasting, kicking the ball away, pointless tackles, punching opponents.

Correct, not smart at all. We're already a player down with Morsy, this does not help. To be honest, I thought he'd get a second yellow for his throw ins because he was still taking the piss after his first card.
It's because he can't cross with his left, a lot of great crossing chances were passed up because Kane checked back everytime. He can do that on the right, like Donacien, but the left foot weakness is evident from both when they play on the wrong side.
First off, that was not a good game of football, but I sure am happy we got another 3 points!
First ten minutes I thought the AFC players were quick on closing us down and stopped us getting a rhythm. When it settled down they seemed happy to let us play in the middle and close the gaps in the final third to shut us out. There wasn't much threat from them but then there wasn't much threat from us either really. It was obvious the midfield pairing were new together as there was no fluency here but Bakinson played well enough. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that Carroll didn't attempt a single challenge all night. I watched him closely and sure, he got to his man but never put a foot in. I also thought he played too many loose passes that didn't find the target. I see others on here that think he played well, I disagree. He looked like a player not willing to mix it up League One style. Next to someone like Morsy he'll do alright because Samy will be the hard bugger in the centre, tonight he just looked weak in there. I hope he just needs a few more games to get up and going properly. Aluko did his best to help out with the deficiencies in midfield by trying to take the ball as often as possible.
We won the second half mainly because after a couple of decent attacks Wimbledon actually got some confidence to come at us. This gave us a bit more space to hit on the counter and the quality we have took advantage. If AFC had continued playing how they were at the end of the first period I doubt we would have scored two. Burns was the stand out player tonight, The back three and Walton were solid, Bakinson did alright, nothing to complain about but plenty to work on.

It's because it's the only shot he practices, he said it in an interview recently. He said be doesn't bother working on shooting from anywhere but the right because that's where he always is. He's a specialist. He's not trying to be an all rounder, play anywhere player, he plays on the right and that's what he does.

I'm not just saying this because he's scored two today and eight in total but during last summer, if you'd asked me what one player I would want from a league one team it would've been Burns. I saw pretty much every match last season and out of all the opposing players I saw, Burns was the one I remember most. He was just so much of a threat in both games against Fleetwood. There aren't many players like him in this league to be honest. So direct, so effective and lethal from the right.
Some very good posts here. Main thing is we won not looking pretty and they must be kicking themselves as they had 3 good chances that should have scored.
While KVY, a really nice bloke, was stupid to get nicked, it does mean Edwards or Penney get another look-in. IMO it will be Edwards on Saturday. We all know his final pass needs improving, but he does get back and defend & fight for the ball.
I liked KM's game management again. Gives half the B team a chance to shine, and a rest for the A team. Then bring on the old guard 2nd half. Norwood was his usual bullying presence, charging around like a demented bull, shoving, barging and generally getting in everyone's face, including the Ref! Why he wasnt booked, I will never know.
I am sure KM will revert to Team A Saturday and his usual formation: so, I don't think he'll want to change from the back 3. And Chappers & Bonne up front. Maybe Aluko for Carroll.

Will be happy for a draw, but 3 pts would deffo put us up there. But let's not forget even the Play-offs is a 1 in 4 chance of promotion. And my forecast has always been top 6 finish would be a creditable new reign, given all the mayem and changes at the Club.
And the most importat thing is we all enjoy our football again and my goodness, the passion and support from all the away fans is unbelievable!

I know it still early days, but how refreshing we have taken the plunge with this manager, I know it might all end it tears (bit of positivity for Stretchy) but at least we tried a new approach to management.(looking at Watford with Roy !)

Yeah was a strange one, don't think it worked particularly well. For me the centre of the park and the whole left hand side in particular was quite poor last night. Jackson is such a limited player and think if he plays it should be as a forward 2, not on the wing.
Burns has been by far our best players this season, he's superb. So consistent down that side, works hard, attacks the fullback and generally get his cross or shot away. He's also pretty good defensively.
I'm shocked that it seems like every team we play against give him so much space, if you look at the majority of goals this season i would wager he's been involved in over 50% of them. I wouldn't be surprised to see a top half Championship team come in for him
Agree, certainly hasn't found the heights of his spell at the start of his career with us but really doesn't look like a LB, he did get in to some decent positions but end product wasn't there. To be fair to him that whole left side needs looking at, certainly not as well set up as the right. Even from a position of Edmunson playing left sided CB, he's a very good CB for this division (although wasn't one of his better games last night) but he's not left footed, so doesn't support the wing back in the same way that Donacien.
We need a CB in that position like when we used to play 3 CBs under Burley with a Venus or Herman type player who can move forwards into that space on their left foot. I know Woolfenden isn't left footed but I also wonder whether he'd be better on the left with Edmunson in the centre
Agree itfcptc, but it also gave KM a chance to look again at Jackson and co. I think he learnt all he needed to!
One win, two draws, and two losses? Across Cook's 44 games in charge, we only won two consecutive league games once. McKenna has already managed to win two consecutive league games on two occasions.
