Wait....if I say yes will you say that it was actually an hour before the meeting that they were told it would be no.....? I'm not playing that game
It wasn't really unexpected though was it. St Mirren made an announcement a week before saying they would vote no and all the papers days before we're going on about chairmen try to change Ross County's MacGregors mind.
The SPL chairmen are of a mind that during discussions everyone was on board, restructuring was the priority and nobody had raised an objection to proceeding as planned. Considering the amount if opportunities they had to say they were unhappy enough to vote NO and didn't would suggest the others were not expecting it
why make such a big deal about it though? it was a ****e idea and i still haven't seen how it will make the game more successful or generate more money. the money that was to be given to the div1 teams would have came from the "struggling" spl teams, as far as i've seen, there wasn't any more money on offer from sky and are they not still struggling with a title sponsor for the league? all the noise about this seems to be down two one or two people "beeling" that rangers aren't to be kept in the bottom league and therefor striking another blow to fans and ticket sales.
I still can't believe we got so close to having a league system that splits into 3 at the end of the season. The worst thing to happen all season in the SPL now is the split and they were wanting to have 3? Are they off their ****ing nut?? How could this possibly be the best way forward? The fact that 10 out of 12 SPL chairmen thought this was a good idea tells me that Scottish football is ****ed no matter what league structure we have.
FFS Gilmour had made it clear he was saying no, MacGregor had also indicated he would say no that's why the other chairmen were trying to convince him. This was not a last minute unexpected no.
All I read in the lead up to the vote was that Milne, Thompson and Lawwell were going to try and convince Gilmour to change his mind. They knew he was voting no in advance of the vote. Why did they even give chairmen a vote, and then moan about how they voted? Kinda defeats the purpose of having a vote.
Ffs Gilmour said no just before the vote, ditto McGregor. They never said no before any other meeting nor gave anyone reason to believe they would.
It was an unexpected no vote . It certainly took Milne by surprise but he's a ****ing idiot . I wonder who in here were unaware how St Mitren were going to vote ?
Wasting your time trying to explain it, they are either too stupid to understand or simply being obtuse as usual.
That's like saying Dev's latest "I'm leaving not606" escapade was unexpected. He told everyone days in advance.
Really? They were saying on Radio Scotland news that at least two teams were gonny vote no a few days before the vote. Mibby the other chairmen should have listened to the news.
Not true Gambol, Ross County said they may vote against it and the point I am making is that only last month Gilmour said: "We had a good discussion. There was good dialogue and difference of opinion but a long way to go. "I don't know what will happen. The SFL clubs are still to meet and until they come back..."There is a lot of tidying up to be done. "The biggest thing is, once the SFL clubs meet, I'm sure they all have their own opinions as well so there is a long way to go. "If you make a decision to change, it is best to happen right away but whether we get to that in time, I don't know." Ross County chairman Roy MacGregor admitted he was concerned with the practicalities of the split. That was on the 11th of March, they never said they would be voting NO then. 3 days before the vote Gilmour suddenly tells the press he will be voting NO.
