Nah, after a run of games, it turned out that Fabianski was actually a pretty solid keeper. Shame, i'd gotten used to calling him flappyhandski.
Even so, both our supported teams starting goalkeepers are 20. If you asked someone with no football knowledge to watch both keepers and analyse them, and asked which keeper had played at a high level in spain, and which had played in league 1 for brentford, the person would say that Szczesny had played at a high level in spain. Inexperience is no excuse. The two keepers are currently leagues apart.
Off topic but does anyone remember Arsenal on Football Manager 2008. They were unplayable. Vela easily became the best player on the game, Fabianski, Lehmann and Almunia were great keepers and many more players were rated higher than they should have been.
Carlos Vela was amazing when we where 3 or more goals up. A pure genius when he comes on after we destroyed a team.
At Madrid aren't exactly a high level as I doubt they would even make the top 4 in England. Don't forget that Szczesny has made mistakes too and De Gea has shown glimpses of quality since joining United
I know Iker Casillas rates De Gea, and that's high praise indeed. But for a true goalkeeping masterclass, watch the highlights from the Germany v Poland game a few weeks ago. Sure, Chesney let 2 in, but made about 9 top quality saves. The game finished 2-2.
