As you well know, I wouldn’t be seen dead in the place I am also boycotting McDonalds from now on, after a near death experience on the toilet this week
However many fans we take to Doncaster, and however many breakfasts they enjoy, at least Donny can no longer rob Charlton of 5th place even with a home win. In fact if we beat them we will open up an 8 point gap, which even maximum points from their two games in hand will not be able to bridge. This is the time in the season where many promotion chasing teams don't get the wins they expect all the time, as some of the struggling sides come to life desperate for points, and even mid-table sides can focus more on chasing that last play-off place.
Portsmouth are definitely faltering. I think we will need 9 wins and a couple of draws from our remaining 12 games to get outright promotion. The biggest handicap is not the quality of the opposition that we will face - almost universally poor - but our own lack of goals & consistency. @lardiman How many points normally guarantees you a top 2 finish in this league?
9 wins and a couple of draws from our final 12 games would leave us on around 88 points - surely enough.
A fantasy - especially when based on a victory we almost never got over 24th placed Wimbledon. We need 4 more wins and maybe 3 draws simply to secure 6th place. That is the only realistic target remaining to us, but even that is not an easy one.
Just got my Donny tickets. We have now sold 740 out of an allocation of 940. The Ticket Office staff say we will “sell our full allocation” Should be a cracking day out now on the back of last Saturday’s win.
