If that's the case I wish him well and hope he is OK. I will never forget being at the game we lost 4-1 at home to Swindon and immediately after the game he sack Brian Horton, only to try and persuade him to stay, which BH declined to do.
He then blamed the fans for getting Horton sacked, when it was his rash decision after a defeat. The City team that night contained three of four players making their debut and Swindon were red hot on their way to promotion to Div 1. They were later pulled up and relegated after financial irregularities, what ever that meant at the time.
I believe Robinson was flying off to Bulgaria after the game and was away from the club for three weeks which made his decision seem all the more of a knee jerk reaction then it was.
However Robinson was just what Hull City needed when he burst onto the scene. 100% showman who was good at talking up the club, getting free publicity and spending other peoples money.
It was a travesty that he never got full control of the club which is what he wanted.
If he had I don't think we would have suffered the Fish/Dolan years.
I wish him well, he was a decent chairman for us.
Think D.R screwed up on Horton's firing but overall he was a good chairman....in fact very good compared to what came after him. I wish him an early recovery to full health...all the best Don.
He bought us tiger cola, red pin stripes and we had some good years under him.

He knew he had made a mistake, that's why he tried to get Horton back straight after sacking him.

The crystal dome on top of Grandways, yes. Anyone got the artist's impression of it? I can't find it anywhere online.
Good man, remember him stood at turnstiles at Springfield park giving out free tickets for FA cup game, in which we got dicked!
He also instigated 'Hull City, Hull City, the Tigers are back Whoa', we used to have a copy.
With his vision and out of the box thinking he would be a good guy to have in charge now with all the money in the game. I remember all his wacky ideas were put together on a shoe string budget.
It wasn't to change the South Stand. It had been demolished BT then. It was a plan to build a Hollywood type bowl structure (which took a giant leap in imagination to envisage) on top of the scrawny bit of terracing which replaced it. Would never have gone ahead after the usual objections from local residents, police and others. In any case he didn't own the ground and any hopes of development were stymied by the dodgy long term lease given to a supermarket with family connections to the board in return for a laughably small amount.
There is an artist's impression knocking about, with, needless to say, a packed BP watching a game in front of it. I'll try and locate it.
He was someone who got where he was by some sheer cheek, some shady dealings and the ability to see an opportunity. Not a bloke to be messed with in more ways than one in his early days.
I remember walking up the side of Kempton and into the stand one Saturday afternoon and there were Don Robinson and Malcolm Allison greeting fans into the Kempton like doormen and shaking their hands.
Still don't know why.
Can't even remember who we were playing that day. I though it was Peterborough or Gillingham, but can't recall MA being involved with either of them - unless he was chairman or wanted to buy us!!
Strange times, but in a way, the best of times too.

Oh yes. I mentioned this on another thread a while ago, some kind soul found it on YouTube!
DR took a lot of stick for sacking Horton, but i remember at the time BH was getting a lot of stick from South Stand seats in the SW corner who had been after his head for weeks. I think DR obviously listened to them too much in his flawed decision.
The team had gone stale under Horton, he needed to go. HORTON OUT - I remember the Swindon game like it was yesterday.
It was played on a Tuesday night, or it might of been a Saturday.
Anyway I remember that we were ****, and had been for a long time in football world time.
I started supporting the club during the Don Robinson years, and I remember him fondly.
By fondly I mean that I remember him in a pleasurable manner, by pleasurable I mean I have happy memories of his time at the club.
Let me just get something straight. Don Robinson has never attempted nor succeeded in any attempt to sodomize myself, nor any of my friends, ever!
I've never actually heard his name mentioned in connection to any child molestation at any given time.
Which bodes well for Robbo, for
when he eventually does pass, which hopefully won't be any time soon, taking into consideration how small a place Scarborough is, and which other eccentric millionaire of the same generation as Robbo lived there (now then now then) the chances of them having once moved in the same circles, are probable.
All I'm saying is if Robbo owns a closet, I hope the ****ers nailed down tight.
