Wengers brief was build a side to compete at the top table play pretty football, buy the best ground in the country and keep em debt free. 16 champions league last 16 qualifications on the trot, a few league titles, a number of cups, some brilliant players developed say he has achieved in buckets.... Arsenal board owe him massively. The best run club in the country and still one of the best it's not wingers fault the board insist on balanced books.
16 Champions League where he's done nothing whilst Scum have won 3 times, Liverpool of won once and Chelsea have won once. Yes they got to the final in 2006 or something. Everytime I hear about the Emerates I hear how expensive it is to get a seat because it was so costly. He's won the Premier League 3 times in 20 years and the last time he did that was in 2004. Scum, Citeh and Chelsea have done better in the last ten years. I'll take the Development of Henry, Walcott and RVP as player's he's developed over 20 years along with others but failed with Richard Wright, Francis Jeffers, to name two. Sol Campbell had a mental break down in 2006. He's under bid for some players in the past and then he's over paid for the likes of Walcott. Who pays £11 million for a kid who's not seen prem first team action. Granted Walcott panned out for him. He was lucky. Arsenal's board owes him jack ****. I would have given him the boot 3 seasons ago. You can balance the books and still keep hold of your quality and bring in experience. You don't have to sell your Cescs, Nasris and RVPs to your main rivals across Europe. Edit: If we were having this conversation 11 years ago just after the Invincible season then I would agree with you. The problem is they've gone backward in the intervening 11 years
They live in a fantastic stadium built without a penny of debt, and play the best footie to watch in the premiership..... I would swap positions with them as would every other clubs supporters apart from perhaps citeh.
I'm sure Fly Emerates has helped pay for the Stadium though. You can play the prettiest football in the world but if it the ball doesn't reach the back of the net it's sorta pointless. I would like to be in the top 2 in the Prem right now who wouldn't. The thing is by the end of May they will probably be sitting 5 with Citeh, Scum, Leicester and the Scousers a head of them on the table.
Did I say that Arsenal badly run? No what I said that was Wenger's transfer policy is rubbish which has lead them to win jack compared to other in recent times and putting him in a top 5 G.O.A.T. list is a bit stupid and I've given you my reasons why
erm millwall can you tell us when you had as good as manager as revie he built leeds up from the lower division the same as shankly did at liverpool and how and of you can bring paisley into the equation i just dont know
TBH, Arsenal **** it up every second half of every season. they have been handed a life line thanks to **** moral at Chelsea and the fact that Van Gaal couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.
Lighten up WW. You might notice I haven't put anyone in a top five, though it's subjective and peoples opinions so not sure calling them stupid is fair. I'd certainly take top four and two successive FA cup wins given our latest decade.
The early ferguson years didn't have any teams who could compete money wise, then Chelski and City big money guys came along.Causing Moyes and Dutch problems.
Not often I agree with Glory but Wenger is IMO the best currant manager in British football.Paid hundreds of millions off the ground and kept then up there on very little money after player sales etc.
Don't think it has m8,the pleasure we got from your relegations, your loss at Cardiff,in Europe,at Wembley, and finishing above you in runners up spot gave us much more pleasure.
To be fair to Moyes he was an embarrassment when he was at the Scum. He tried to play fantasy football and fell flat on his face. He was a small fish in a big pond. He was seen as good at Everton because they had no expectation.
Yes maybe a bit harsh calling them stupid but after the last ten years putting him a top 5 list is wrong IMO. IF he was in a top 10 then yes I can see him round 6 and 7
He could very well possibly be the best currant crop managers out round about now however how bad the crop of managers we have are. The best British Club manager we was Rodgers sadly and look what happened there. The problem is we could probably have some Brilliant managers in Prem but our Chairmen are too trigger happy these days. The one thing Wenger has given Arsenal that is good is stability
