Do you think accent plays a part in how accepting people are ? My wife has a very broad Filipino accent interlaced with Welsh twang ( believe me it can be hilarious at times - "Tidy"), whereas Raducanu has the London accent - hence the "where are you really from" type questions some get....

 

After getting dumped out of Indian Wells in the first round, Raducanu is playing at the moment in the Transylvanian Open. It's on Amazon Prime if anyone's interested.

Britain's Emma Raducanu produced a composed display to beat Romania's Ana Bogdan in straight sets and reach the Transylvania Open quarter-finals.

The US Open champion backed up her opening win in Cluj-Napoca - a first at tour level - with a 6-3 6-4 victory.

Third seed Raducanu, 18, will face 19-year-old Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk next.

Emma Raducanu's hopes of facing her idol Simona Halep in the Transylvania Open were ended by Marta Kostyuk in the quarter-finals.

The 18-year-old US Open champion was comprehensively beaten 6-2 6-1 by her teenage Ukrainian opponent.

Before the match Raducanu described how Kostyuk would "destroy" her when they played at junior level.

Kostyuk will face Halep in the last four after the Romanian thrashed compatriot Jaqueline Cristian 6-1 6-1.
