To be fair to Olly Murs, he's had consistent musical success as well now. He's pretty big over here, hear his music all the time.

Girls Aloud were also around for a while, and obviously Cheryl Cole has continued that a bit as well.

Jessie J is just as manufactured, I reckon. Agree that Joss Stone has talent though.

Yes, but you need the money for it. A lable will also probably have more experience in the industry.

You can probably do it without, but you're essentially becoming you're own label then and it's a lot of money and risk.

I dont think Girls Aloud were from X Factor, from a similar show years back though.
Jessie J at least writes some of her own music though.

I like Jon Lajoie's piss take on the music industry:

I didn't say Olly Murs was good, just that he's been successful.

It is impressive how popular the hoff still is with a certain age group over here.

Guys like him because he was Michael Knight, and chicks like him because of all the time he spent running around semi naked and muscular in Baywatch.

From what I recall women were the only ones who watched Baywatch.
Men looked at it, but I don't think it was for it's rivetting stories or compelling acting.

I dunno he wore a lot of tops and sucked it all in as far as I could tell there.

The girls were what we poor unfortunates called porn back then.. you needed a sleeve ball down the video shop for anything else.
