I disagree, I think loans are essential in the league. You just need to take one or two players who will make the difference, then assure their parent club that you will play them for the whole season. One of either Jay Spearing or Jonjo Shelvey from Liverpool would be a great midfield partner to Austin. Its time Premiership teams did all they could to reinforce a understrength Premier League, by assisting the return of sleeping giants like Leeds United, it is embarrassing and financially disastrous to have stadiums like St Mary's half empty because no one wants to see Southampton vs Wigan in the Premiership...
Too many though are not realistic with who we could bring in on loan. While I agree Spearing or Shelvey would be an ideal loan signing with Bolton and Forest battling it out to sign Spearing for £2 million what chance have we of getting him on loan.
