Don't 4 teams compete in the Emirates Cup (I am including Arsenal in the loosest sense of the word "compete" ) ??
I wasn't actually trying to make a case for the Emirates Cup being classed as a major trophy, but yes I believe so. All I know for sure is that they struggle to win their own tournament.
Been locked out of the site for ages. I would have thought that the FA Cup might seem a little tarnished by the following. It was won by a Club sponsored by the sponsors who met the worst team left in the competition (as measured by league position) three rounds running (a 315 to one shot). They also needed a wrongly disallowed goal to survive the semi-final and a wrongly allowed goal to win the final. Just a coincidence
Most clubs are sponsored by sponsors. Just saying. Which of Spurs' four FA cup matches leading up to the Chelsea semi, all of which allowed you to remain in London and play against terrible teams, did you find the toughest?
Nonsensical reply. All I was saying is that conflicts of interest need to be absent to avoid tarnishing the competition. Then if a club gets a lucky draw and some dodgy decisions in its favour no-one will be able to attribute that to favouritism. The FA simply shouldn't allow the Cup to be sponsored by a firm who also sponsors one of the potential winners. I was not criticising Arsenal in any way.
The Emirates Cup is back !!! The Goons have lined up fellow CL participants ( *** ) as opponents. *** I assume Sevilla will win their qualifier.
Fast forward to this season and Arsenal have belittled the F.A.Cup and don't look very likely top 4 finishers.
My sister (A Wimbledon supporter) went to the Spurs/Dons game and said the atmosphere was crap and she went with my nephews and her grandson, was expecting more of an occasion.
