Cheers Bomb, good luck. Gat, its always Plumbers. All the tv crap is about Plumbers ect, earning to much , ripping people off and paying no tax. But everyone wants to be a Plumber so they say. I say let them try it. Its easy they think.
I think that just the start with the HMRC, they'll be sucking the blood out of another trade next lol
You asked earlier do we have any more like Joe Mason down here ..... we have practically a whole team, this season we have a 16 year old playing 1st team football, and the teams average age is 20 lol
I do find the comments about Peter Ridsdale are always harping on the past. It is interesting that two Cardiff supporters this evening have admitted that Ridsdale is not all bad.........in fact saying that he did somethings that have benefitted Cardiff. To say that with Ridsdale onboard Gat you wont be going anymore is disappointing..........without Ridsdale there wouldn't have been a 2011/12 season, PAFC would have sunk without trace in the debt that it's directors didn't fully understand. Through thick and thin thats what supporting your team is all about, owners, directors, managers and players will come and go.......but PAFC will constantly be there even without the support of all it's past fans. This is surely better than the previous regime who where blind to their actions until Peter Ridsdale rolled his sleeves up and showed them what a disaster they were producing. I will say again until proven otherwise Peter Ridsdale has my support,he has only been good for PAFC so far. If he does let Plymouth down I doubt if anyone will save it again, and that will be very sad, and I will be very disappointed in being wrong about the man.Ridsdale is a football man, full of ideas that have obviously not pleased everyone especially some of the idiots that run the game........give him a chance.........we havn't anyone else with his football knowledge standing in the wings.
Good Morning Plymborn, I do support Argyle through thick and thin, but I don't support Risdale nor Heaney, my thoughts on Risdale are not based on what I've read, its based on meeting the man and what he has said whilst here, I work hard for my money and I refuse to put it directly or indirectly into the pockets of either of those men .... will be interesting to find out who the other 12 signatories are though. Anyway Plymborn I've a few things to do before I make my way down to Home Park for the last time for awhile.
Sensiblegreeny was spot on, Ridsdale is a Del boy type of character. Although probably not as lovable I really do not have a bad word for the riddler, his methods are questionable but he delivered on promises he made when he arrived in Cardiff. There was a lot of bad press related to the late payments to the inland revenue and the prospect of winding up orders but at the time he was still hunting for investors and came good. There was a lot of bridge building needed as it seems Sam Hamman alienated a lot of would be investors and even the local council did not want anything to do with the bluebirds whilst Hamman remained at the club. I guess what I'm trying to get across is he'll do well for you but it will take time, you have other board members who can keep a rein on his spending, allegedly he's a bit weak on salary negotiations, tends to pay too much. Good luck, it will be a rocky ride with the riddler but I'm sure he will get you to a better position in time.
Morning Gat........sorry to hear you feel like that...........being anti-Ridsdale is one thing........but you are depriving Argyle of regular income as well.........this doesn't help Argyle to move on and financially recover..........just sample the atmosphere today and see if the situation feels more encouraging.....just remember you live near enough to go regularly some of us don't and wish we did.
I cant believe some of the comments on this thread. Peter Ridsdale should not be allowed anywhere near any football club. Ridsdale got the Malaysians on board did he????????????? Didnt Steve Borley have to save that deal and bring them on board. Ridsdale initially sorted out the immediate financial mess left by Sam. However the main debt left by Sam was never paid and still more or less stands. He also then took out loans from the likes of Ranson which are still holding us back. Millions were received in transfer fees , the retail at the stadium all sold off including the contracts for the food etc , he then conned the fans by saying give us your season ticket money early and we will buy players in the window with it. What hed didnt say was the club was under a transfer embargo for failing to pay its taxes. So with all the money that came in Ridsdale still pocketed his money and his bonus(unbelievable really when the stadium came in over budget) but the club were not paying its debts and was in fact in real danger. Ridsdale of course along with others eventually got the stadium built. Would it have got built though without Steve Borley and his company and in fact I believe Borley is one of many still owed by the club. We as a club were saved by the Malaysian backing and its Steve Borley who deserves the credit for that. We marched and helped get Ridsdale out. How would we have got through last season without their money. ST money all gone etc , HMRC not paid , other creditors. Forget Sam/ Langstone their loan is not secured. Ridsdale took us to the brink. We got very lucky. If the Malaysians walk away we could still pay because of Ridsdale. Its bad enough having people think he done a good job, but its even worse when hes at another club in trouble and their fans given the impression he may do a good job. Plymouth fans - Beware. I really wish Ridsdale would stay away from football so he cant even be discussed.
And another thing Plymouth fans. Ridsdale is a brilliant speaker. Think thats why some of our fans think he did so much good.
Ridsdale did quite a few good things for CCFC, and a couple of bad things, unfortunately he will be more remembered for things like the season ticket fiasco than the good things he did, every time a City fan takes his seat in our shiny new stadium, he or she should think back, if it wasn't for PR we wouldn't have a shiny new stadium. There is a faction of CCFC fans, who for their own ends want Hamman back, this crowd, (and we know who they are ) are very vocal and seem to wield an influence that is far beyond their importance, and they set out to demonise PR. The guy is no saint, but nothing like as black as he is painted by some, the guy is a chancer, and a wheeler and dealer, he will do what he thinks is best for Argyle, not neccessarily out of love for the club, but because the more successful the club becomes the more money he makes.........which makes him very similar to a lot of club chairmen/owners, he will do his best for the club, but will always look out for number one first..........not so different to most of us really, PAFC could be in worse hands
Any particular reason that you think the stadium wouldnt have been built if it wasnt for Peter Ridsdale. You cant be sure of that. What is certain without going over budget and also selling off what we were told was going to give us income streams for years to come such as the retail and food outlets all being sold or contracted out plus not paying creditors plus Steve Borleys company being owed for the build plus building and not paying debts and other creditors , plus high interest loans, the stadium wouldnt have been built. The cost of building the stadium could still send us into admin if our backers walk away. Loads of people deserve credit for the stadium build. How much credit Ridsdale deservs after the massive pay and bonuses he got and at the cost of the stadium build im not sure. Could someone else have done a better job - probably and much cheaper. Some do seem to have a pro Sam agenda. But PRs record is there to see at all his clubs.
Hilts, not wishing to be a smartass M8, and respect your opinion as always, but I know for a fact, (and not a Forest FACT ) that Steve gives most of the credit for getting the stadium finished to PR, a direct quote. "OK a few of helped as much as we could, but if it wasn't for Peter, well we would still be in a ramshackle Ninian Park, and I doubt very much if we could have attracted a decent level of investment, if we were still there, Peter did a lot of work behind the scenes that he never got the credit for, put it this way I still speak to him on a fairly regular basis......and he's on my Christmas card list" Not trying to be the "great I am" but I actually heard Steve say this at a barbecue not to long ago...................I'm not saying it's word perfect, the drinks had been flowing, but that was the gist of it. The Malaysians were wavering, and Steve indeed reassured them, and may have saved the deal, they wanted to speak to someone senior at the club and wanted certain reassurances, Steve was the right man in the right place at the right time (his words not mine). Maybe, we will never know, but the fact is he got it done As I say certainly not a saint, but not the devil incarnate either.
I for one really hope that the Riddler can turn things round for Plymouth. The football League need the likes of Plymouth in fact I think that there should be more teams from Somerset, Devon & Cornwall. Add to that Newport & Wrexham we need to see more football teams west of Bristol
Ok got the gist of all that blue fans............just got to accept that Peter Ridsdale is footballs equivalent to marmite............you either like it or hate it...........he aint done nothing wrong yet in deepest Devon and I hope it stays that way.
Gat, another question for you. He has been paid "expenses". Out of what exactly? As far as I am aware nobody, Administrator included, has been paid anything yet. As far as I am aware there is nothing to pay even expenses out of. The true statement is "will be paid" rather than "has". People need to remember that players wages are pegged at 55% of income for the entire squad. We have a side full of kids because that is all we could aford to take on pre takeover. Everyone who stays away now will not be punishing the ground owners or Ridsdale as far as I can see but the quality of the playing staff in the end. But, I respect your right to protest and if you think there is a moral issue for you in not going then by all means stick to your principles. As you can gather I don't neccessarily agree with the concept but each to their own I guess.
If you live in Plymouth your lucky.........you have the chance to go........remember the one constant is PAFC, Owners, managers players come and go.....at the end of the day PAFC our financially losing out with small gates.
