The gravy thing is a constant battle for us.

I have to say the girls and lads up there do try their hardest (mostly) its just bizarrely like they aren't geared up for serving food up there. We cant control the TV, one side of the table cant see a TV!

One security thinks our box is a short cut! Its like they're doing you a favour taking your money off you. The only bit that could be considered and advantage is, I sit down literally as they kick off and have a drink to hand at half time etc..

had to laugh at this one ...went to a annual meal with one of the orgaizations I belong to it was in ULLAPOOL . ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS MEAL .. ( the Caledonian)
    they were advised:-

The 65 attending like to drink, mostly real ale but as long as it beer from a couple of the local breweries, especially The An Teallach about 250 -300 pints
guess what .ran out of beer in the first hour before dinner....
    amazing meal
COFFEE and Mints ... served no mints ... I called a waitress over "excuse me, POINTING TO MENU as par for the course very little English ..probably Putins granddaughter! .. mints, we need the mints! "
the serving doors like saloon doors, had 3 faces staring out into the room with a lot of chatting and puzzled looks, a fourth face appeared and next minute we were left to our devices as save 1 round of replacing the empty coffee pots as the speech's and presentations took place ... with coffee cups being cleared and getting ready to retire to the bar 3 waitresses appeared with plate fuls of mints at least 3 or 4 each! you guessed it? well next day in Tesco's following a hunch they had no mints ... apparently sold out at the last minute last nite ......

BEER .. AFTER DINNER.. 5 PINTS PLEASE I WAS IN A SMALL ROUND AND WE BOUGHT 2 EACH ... sorry no beer got lager, or bottles ..... uuuuummm quick looks, no probs and went the pub down the road... luckily they did 5 types of ale and with over 20 of us now seated left them very short, when we got back to our digs another 20 or so of our number had gone to the pub, we had drunk the 3 pubs almost dry!.....
ULLAPOOL been there loads of times .. The ferry boat pub on the front by boots the chemist brilliant do rooms as well, Chip shop a world beater joined into pub next door ..seaforth inn (inside info.. the same kitchen supplies the pub and chip shop eg fish and chips £4 in the bar £11 ) take your pint outside and get your chips from the shop!

Friend of mine has a box at MK Dons (7k+Vat per season) and the food and service is far superior. City need to get their act together and provide a more professional product. They need staff with english as their first language, serving. Our experience was a bit like a visit to Fawlty Towers.

Think of the class of players we could sign with that kind of money and it sounds like they didn't have grillfrit on the menu. Did anyone say don't sit there and the Waldorf salad is off? Have a good one.

    Inver,
I'm headed back to blighty in a couple of weeks time from Oz as the wifes father sadly has the Big C and it's terminal. I will be interested to see what it's like since Brexit and a few years away - do I have rose tints sat here or did I make the right move??

Well I've been gone for over 40 years and did return every year for the last 10 or so to spend my winters in the Canaries. There are still pockets of England that still exist as they were, but go to places like Luton and North London and if you're flying to Heathrow it will shock you the minute you get off the plane. Don't even bother to read the papers or you'll be hit by the constant pandering to those who arrived after you left that complain about human rights abuses and how they are treated. I should stop now before I really start ranting and upset someone, but I think England as it was when I lived there has gone forever and just been handed over to all the wrong people. Right move - you bet and it will be interesting to hear your comments. Sorry to hear about the reason for your return, and we are waiting news of my 101 year old mother-in-law who stopped us going to Oz 50 years ago because she was apparently so sick she wasn't going to be around much longer but she's done quite well really. Take care.

I used to work regularly in Inverness and liked the quaint way the Scottish hotel (Marriott) dressed.
Then one time when I visited I got a shock as the people I had gotten to know by name had all been replaced with eastern Europeans. And this was 15 years ago.

I go regularly to the NW, Ullapool and beyond, of course Inverness needs passing through and is an important fuel stop last roundabout before the Kessock , go left for 2 fuel stops Esso on left and Bp past next roundabout on road to Airport, last but one turn before Kessock is one of 3 Tesco's ..all seem to be "native employee's" as have not seen aliens in them yet ... however most hotels are eastern Europeans .even Ullapool.
a FISH PROCESSING PLANT near Wick used to employ 50 locals . now employs 4 ..the manager and 3 supervisors ... maybe 3 speak ENGLISH ... AND THEY WANT INDEPENDENCE??????
