Smith was decent up front. He's just a shocking midfielder. He still hasn't grasped the notion of how to tackle, which has meant that, because in midfield you'll make more tackles than up front, he's made more bad tackles, and gained more yellows.

I still think if he'd been kept up front he'd have been alright, and i'd like to see him playing as a striker even just for the reserves to see if he can still do something there.

It is quite amazing that he has 19 caps but while at Leeds and the start of his Man Utd career he was a decent forward. Its also amazing that Kieron Dyer has 33(!) England caps.

Dyer was an amazing player though!

Before we went down and we had **** all up front I was begging for Smith to be put up top. If i remember rightly he's played up front once for us, MotM performance against Arsenal.

Smith should have stayed a striker imo definitely. He actually seems to have every attribute of a good striker (shooting, touches, ball control) and absolutely no attributes of a good midfielder (passing, tackling, intelligent play).

In fact, when you think about it, Smith being a midfielder makes absolutely no sense.

He's never warranted his £6 Million move here let alone the 60k a week he's been on for the past 4 years.

Would that be Leeds Viduka, or Newcastle Viduka? Mini-Newcastle Viduka is still pretty massive - it was like Fat Ronaldo, without the skill.
