The only way to do this cheaply is ... ... drive to Tessera (a little village near Venice airport), leave the car, take bus 15 to Mestre station, then the train to Treviso station, after bus 6 to Treviso airport, fly to Edinburgh, take the bus or tram to Edinburgh station, then the train to Newcastle, after the metro to Sunderland, watch the game, after the metro back to Newcastle, catch the night coach to London, get the coach to Stansted airport, fly to Venice airport, walk 17 minutes to Tessera, and drive to his evening work. Brilliant! Reminds me of a similar trip from Tuscany for the di Canio 3-0 at SJP when I was offered a ticket the day before the game. I left Mrs Smug alone in a village called Anghiari for three days but it was worth it, hope it is for your lad.
