I posted a version of the following article on the Newcastle and Sunderland boards yesterday and thought having had it removed from the Sunderland board, maybe I should post it on our board as a discussion topic.

I have long been a fan of Newcastle United as my 'second' club and whilst I have only watched them of late on the TV, I have been to St.James Park to follow Portsmouth there. Whilst thoroughly enjoying roundly booing Kevin Keegan whilst he was there as a player, Newcastle have always been important to me ever since the days of Micky Quinn and more recently when we demolished the Toon 4-1 on their own patch in about 1/2 an hour I think! The last time I visited their ground I left Fratton station in Portsmouth on the 5-24 am train and got there just in time for kick off, not even time for a beer and a joke or two with the friendly geordie folk.

Newcastle have of course made a very impressive start to the new Premiership season and are flying high, despite the sale of the magnificent Andy Carrol whom I rated highly. With good honest and hard working performances coming from quite frankly new and not well recognised players can their challenge at the top of the table be sustained or will they need an injection of cash from their owner to climb even higher and maybe into European contention for next season?

Their neighbours are however I fear on a downward slide , will Steve Bruce be the first of many to lose his Premiership job?

Any thoughts fellow blues?:emoticon-0111-blush

If by 'second club' you mean a club whose scores you always look out for and get that slight inner glow if they've won and a bit of a sad sigh if they've lost, then I will state mine as Havant & Waterlooville, with Plymouth Argyle 3rd.

Devo, Yes I did. I also watch out for our neighbours results but for a different reason of course. I did mean a team/club we would watch and follow ,if not at the matches themselves , on TV/Radio and such like. H&W rarely get this coverage of course, except in recent years with their cup runs and that famous Liverpool match at Anfield.<ok>

Bristol City - for a few reasons, one being our former 'keeper is there, (and I'm still a massive fan), two, their fortunes have been similar to ours, three, their fans are interesting. Third team is Plymouth Argyle - they deserve better.

english 2nd team - Havant & Waterloovile
Overseas 2nd team - Partizan Belgrade. This is why.
