You have to hope that in the time a player spends with the club they can develop a connection to keep them here, the sort of connection Fonte has with the club/fans... Or that we improve enough as a team to match their ambitions :azn:

The way we thought Lallana did :( I don't think any good player will develop a connection these days, only way they will stay is if they aren't good enough to move up. Even then their sight might be drawn side ward with other clubs at an equal level paying more. Think we just have to get used to the steady turn around and except that we won't be able to form an attachment to any players. This will dull my support most likely but not end it.

Might be better placed to make a dash for the US/Mexican border for those of us who have been around on the forum long enough to remember that Fran! :emoticon-0110-tongu

We should wait to see if we sign Hernandez from United in exchange for Mane ... he'll know the best way there.

Perhaps they should look at some of the players who have left Saints too early...Chambers was being criticised on Sky this morning. He may not have started every game for us, but he would have played more and been treated with a lot more affection and patience at SMS.

Unless they're very lucky with their families, the one thing professional athletes are starved of is sound advice from people who have their best interests at heart. While one thing they're never short of is people trying to profit from their talent.

Of course, a decent manager can sometimes guide a headstrong youth; but managers, even the best of them, will always have an agenda of their own.

Well Frank Lampard said the problem was players who make it at the top clubs have usually been there since they were eight or so and have never had anyone say 'no' to them and have had everything done for them, which is a big problem.

Which I suppose is pretty honest of the bloke.

*Though TBF inside the stadium seems ok and fortunately the lad can't read to see what the forums are saying.

*From some of us.
He's 19 and he's made, what, 10 appearances and some people tell me he isn't good enough <doh>
But Ron thinks he might be. Who am I going to believe? :emoticon-0138-think
I'll check next time it happens to see if the y ever played for Holland or Barcelona?

Perhaps playing FIFA 2015 or League Manager 2015 makes them think they really are managers! Like watching Top Gear makes you a racing car driver.

Well Wanyama is 99% going next summer, unless his agent suddenly becomes less of a money grabber. Mane and Jay will if they have a good season. So you should start now.

For reasons other than than the obvious, I really wanted to see Saints finish in the top four to test the resolve of the likes of Morgan "I want to play in the Champions League". Even less likely this year but you wonder whether we would be able to offer enough money to keep Wanyama and his agent happy if we did finish in the top 4 or whether we could call their bluff on this CL claim and find that these players and agents can't have too much money.

I fear we know the answer to that already, it's all amount money
