Blame it largely on the UK population expanding by more than 8 million people since the early 2000s most of which have arrived from overseas That’s where the local authority housing stock (what there was of it to start with) has gone and it’s also put huge pressure on the NHS and most other elements of British life including congestion on our roads. The benefits being paid out every year are extortionate, and we’re being made poorer and poorer because of it while local communities in certain parts of the country are becoming over run with young foreign men with often nothing to do from very different regimes to ours. Meanwhile we’ve stood by and watched, whilst education, NHS, policing, immigration and other core services are taken over and spoiled by warped ideologies and our society and country has become almost unrecognisable it’s a very sad state of affairs
People generally come here to work, contribute to the economy and take some pressure off an ageing ‘indigenous’ population. If the infrastructure has fallen apart in the last decade there might be a good reason for that.
We are shortly going to have to move our retirement age to 68. There aren’t enough young people to support the older population, we need immigration especially of young people. What is needed is proper routes to get here, and proper controls of who we allow in. This will stop the boats because coming across the channel in a small boat certainly isn’t cheap. We also need to get rid of the backlog and speed up the processing times massively. Obviously we also need to do more to catch the people who arrange the crossing and pocket £m’s from vulnerable people.
And a lot come here, disappear into the black economy, are paid cash in hand for whatever they do, legal or illegal,, pay no tax and no NI Managed migration, where skills shortfalls are met is fine, or people who are genuine refugees fleeing for their lives People crossing the channel ain’t ! Period

Housing had nothing to do with Maggie selling them off then? I remember in the 80’s when there was 3 year waiting list, so times have not changed that much just more media attention. When Covid came, loads of Eastern European and others got out of the country as it was safer in their own countries. And when it blew over they couldn’t get back in so the recession started with these people doing the labour like nursing homes, drivers etc started. The NHS is in trouble because there is nowhere to send the ones convalescing due to nursing homes shutting so people having to stay in hospitals taking up bed space. And why are they shutting? Probably due to the ones here won’t get out of bed as their benefits get stopped. And I’m not talking about the non Brits.
Granted But are you saying the extra 8 million people now living here haven’t impacted everything that used to work fine because they have When you have systems geared to a population of x and the population then becomes y with no prior plans to cater for the extra people and their demands, and then chuck in the wholly avoidable ruining of the economy by Covid lockdowns and a reluctance from lazy Brits to pull their weight and get their arses out of bed to do a days work, as you’ve said, we have the makings of a perfect storm

I totally agree Wiz Small Businesses who are being taxed out of existence here, are setting up in places like Italy and Ireland where growth is encouraged and the tax burden on them is significantly lower and who can blame them ? A lot of people from the UK with certain skills are leaving for better paid jobs in Europe and as far away as Australia. They might also be leaving due to the west things are going here as we rip up more green spaces to build housing estates on. In the year 2000 our population was a manageable 58m Today, with net migration figures about to be published for the last year, which are expected to be close to 1m for 2022, the UK population size will be pushing 70m which we can see is totally out of control. As I said, it’s hardly surprising that nothing works properly any more western birth rates are falling drastically, as they are in Japan and South Korea as people choose careers over having a family. Add in the global scaremongering over climate change, job uncertainty and possibly selfish attitudes then we have a perfect storm brewing Meanwhile birth rates in Africa, the Arab world and elsewhere continue to grow This Government keeps banging on about achieving Net Zero by 2050 and punishing us with ridiculous taxes while the likes of China and India laugh at us with our puny CO2 emissions by comparison What we need is net zero migration and taking back control For every one that leaves, one can come to the UK to replace them. Or is that too sensible ? And anyone crossing the channel illegally should be securely detained and then deported immediately with the exception of women and children.
