It isn't often these days I feel inspired to write anything longer than a sentence or two but this has really got my goat.

What we are discussing here is a group of youths who killed another solely because the colour of his skin was different to theirs, two of whom have been tried and found guilty, and an attempt to tie the perpetrators to a football club with a history of violent action by their supporters.

It is funny how these murderers have been linked with Millwall FC, when there is the piece about Charlton Athletic banning them. I suppose being from Eltham it is an easy assumption to make. If they were from Liverpool no doubt these people would have been portrayed as cheeky Skallies "just 'avin a lorra laffs", loveable Geordies "bayin ord" if they were from Newcastle or Welshmen in search of something other than sheep, they may all have been rugby loving yahoos out for a spot of high jinks; but the south east London, trouble maker, must be a Millwall fan thing has kicked in. It is just as stupid as saying all Irishmen are in the IRA or all Germans are Nazis.

Does this not show how puerile things are getting when an angle has to be found to link something really awful with football, up my way it is a desire to link anything to the midlands – "Aircraft crash in Uzbekistan, no midlanders involved" that sort of crap.

These murderers might have followed Millwall FC; that doesn't mean Millwall, the team or its supporters, is/are guilty by association. It also doesn't mean that all Millwall FC fans are going to commit murder, the concepts here are mutually exclusive.

I am thoroughly fed up with people trying to associate any bad behaviour, and the actions of the gang of thugs inspiring the creation of this thread is so far beyond even the term bad behaviour it is unimaginable, with football when clearly a lot of it has no link whatsoever.

As to Diane Abbott, as asked elsewhere, she is an MP and as such should know every utterance would be seized upon and those words likely to cause maximum fuss published. She might think something, it is still not illegal to think something, but this country does not have free speech anymore (unless you are Abu Hamza and are preaching anti-everything non-Islamic message) so to say something as inflammatory as she did was just stupid. For her to use her position to say something of that nature might have been a cunning ploy to get something into the public sphere but the words used just come over as designed to cause trouble, or that she has some sort of deep seated chip on her shoulder. By attempting to play the race game has shown her in the lowest possible light; sometimes she made sense, other times not but now she has started losing the respect she had.

Britain might be imagined as racist by some, and perhaps it is, but this country is certainly a lot better than many others. Though that is for another day and another thread.

While I'm not going to argue with a lot of that Brag, Millwall have a hardcore of racist, sexist, homophobes within their ranks, and at least two of those traits have been evidenced here. That a large majority of their fanbase does not show those tendencies is neither here nor there: the majority have done **** all to try to get rid of them, and can therefore be considered complicit in what they do.

As for freedom of speech, MPs are probably the only people in the country truly free by law to say as they please.

two of whom have been tried and found guilty,- At the third attempt they have been found guilty by dodgy forensic evidence, not one witness put either of them at the scene.

Actually, I was assuming* your original statement was referring to the popular misconception that every Watford FC fan is involved in some lurid affair with Watford FC's past Chairman; 1970's glam-rocker, Reginald Kenneth White - also known as Elton John - a popular, and much publicised openly gay man. Therefore, playing along with this, I was informing you that unfortunately, David Furnish had beaten you to my "Mrs" (Elton John), as the two had entered into a civil partnership in 2005, a whole 6 years before your original statement.

*I know you should never assume, but it is obvious you have a secret. Testosterone is what makes a man a "man". It has often been said, the greater a man's level of testosterone, the more of a "man" he is. Your testosterone laced responses have highlighted your secret, desperate as you are to proove you are a "man", and not merely a "bum bandit", as you so delightfully put it. So I feel very confident in this assumption.
