This is one of the worst sides I have seen in 35 years of following thh Golden Boys. It is not all Dyche's fault but he is out of his depth big time. 1) We need a manager who has some sought of experience. I would go for Gary Johnson and if unavailable or won't come how about John Ward or Andy Hesenthaler. We need a Watford man who lives and breathes the club. Nigel Gibbs is another but hasnt the experience of managing. 2) We need to give the youngsters a good run out I agree Thompson, Hodson should be playing as well as young Matty Whichelow. 3) Players like Chris Iwellumooooooooo should not be playing just like a Steve Kabba... 4) Tactics is the Championship are important and no plan B let alone a plan A. We just dont seem like scoring let alone putting anything together. 5) Dyche needs to get some experiance at a non league club and work his way up. Watford is a step to far to soon. We have now had four rookie managers and this one will take us down unless Bassini acts quickly. Shame but its a results business and we need a good home record because our away from is dire... 6) Players are looking dissjointed and not interested Marvin Sordell take a bow. 7) At present there are three worse clubs. Bristol City, Forest and Doncaster. Not a coincidence they have all sacked there managers. I fear if we don't we will take their places.
Coming to the KC next week. Could be a right royal stuffing, but knowing City, Watford will not go home potless.
I would say give him a month. Then if we have to sack him we have plenty of time to get a replacement and give him time to access the squad before january. I agree with those above who say this is the worst team we have had for years. Hoofing it at marv and gardner is pointless and you cant critisise the strikers too much when they have no service!
I have just seen the next fixtures. Leicester Svens Lot Away 19th October Hull Aidy B's Graveyard Away 22nd October Posh Always lose to Durahms lot Home 29th October Brighton Buckley Haunting Home 1 November Smog Monsters Away 5 November Dyche looking for a new job after bonfire night. Can't see us picking up any points.
Looking at those fixtures I will be honestly suprised if Dyche is still the manager at the end of those
it does look like a tough run of games to get a point from ... Come on SD...please sort it! Great points Tivers, scary..but very true.
To be honest after watching the cup game, I have had concerns, that night really showed where we are 'No where' we lack creativity amongst the current first 11. Is it time to ask the Prince to take a bow for JE? We need hungry players who want to play for us, sorry Marv but currently you are not one of those Like H has said stick him on the bench for a while, he has got to big for those boots! If Tiny is injured let Mirfin have a run in the team, Tiny is struggling to find his form this season, leave the fullbacks. I have not seen Hogg play so I cannot comment as for the wingers and forward line there is nothing to add
QPR fan in peace..to be fair dyche has a very limited squad(quality) and as my season ticket holding friend said" he was the cheap option".Did you expect anything else than a struggle with the team that you have, especially after mackay poached your better players?we had a succession of managers when things went t**s up and a constant merry go round of managers never helps.Maybe the job came along too early for dyche, time will tell.Hopefully you will get some better investment and turn the corner..good luck for the season.
I put know and am actually a little taken back how many said yes, he comes in with a team that overachieved last season because of two players, Danny and Cowie and having lost the super sub, probably with very little money what did you want him to do win the league!!! Staying up is the aim for the season and I think Sean can do that
Overachieved last year, I disagree with that statement . So what are we doing so far this season ? Is this how we have to play just to stay up ? So 3 players leave the club does that then mean that dyches team that he puts out can concede goals and not score goals and really disappoint a paying public and show zero confidence 11 games into the season but it's ok cos our target is just to stay up, give it 2 more weeks our home support will be under 10.000 . If dyche can't motivate and play some decent football then he should go. Simple
I think I've said my piece about SD tactics in previous posts weeks ago. The trouble is can we afford compensation for him & the backroom staff? We could at a pinch but what a waste of money that would be. Also, who would we get? Has Eustace been doing his badges? If so (& I'm not reccomending him mind) he would be worth putting your money on as a player/manager - his legs are close to gone now but his heart is still intact. Otherwise there are some useful choices out there that may consider they can change it (apart from us of course, who all think we could do the job!). SD could still survive and the team comfortable in mid table if he could just bring himself to change the style. Get players to commit to breaking the game line - get crosses in by all means but not telegraphed static crosses from midfield areas - instead break with a bit of pace and get to the byline (& if there isn't any pace in the team or enough of it, put it in!). Give the forwards some encouragement that they are not on their own and attack as a team and defend as a team - and just because Forsyth can head a ball stop using him just for that, I bet if you let him play his game he could actually do something with the ball. Frankly I'm not surprised at any of these results and it showed even in pre-season & certainly the Bristol Rovers game should have given a wake up call yet here we are with the same game plan week in week out - boring to watch - lack of imagination - 'playing safe' - easy to defend against - slow - one dimentional - a betrayal of the Academy ethic - so much more but I'll just depress myself further..............
I have been a Watford fan for about 45 years now and have lived with relegations before, and will do again. What I cannot accept is the one sided predictability of our present side, watching them you have the feeling that given 90 matches (Let alone minutes) they would fail to find the net other than by praying that the opposing defence makes a mistake. What we are playing at the moment will drive fans away from the stadium. I do not want to drive the knife into SD more than has been done already. But I am convinced that bringing 10 new players into the squad, and putting a new team together with a playing system which brings the best out of each player is beyond SD's present abilities. However, where is the alternative ? If he does go, or is pushed, a new manager would have to be 1. Cheap 2. Available (We can`t afford to be dragged into compensation battles anywhere) 3. Have some emotional connection to Watford F.C. (Because no one else would take on our existing group of players and want to be judged on his abilities in bringing out the best in them). If GT. is not prepared to play a more active role then there are not so many real candidates out there - I have a strange feeling that Aidy Boothroyd may be on his way back in the near future. How would others feel about this ? There are many others I would prefer. Beginning with Kenny Jackett, Nigel Gibbs or Andy Hessenthaler (Maybe even Ray Lewington) but Aidy is probably the most realistic candidate.
Everyone's giving him a month, well i think the fact it that he will be here for a while, like it or not, as we won't be able to afford the compensation. On paper we have a very good team, it looks more balanced then last season's and has more depth to it, so in my opinion its not the players that are the problem, especially with the fact that our defence has looked quite good this season. Its up front where we have the problem, because to put in bluntly hoofing it up to little men like Sordell, Garner, and previously Weimann simply won't work. When we played the direct game against Burnley with Iwelumo on the first day of the season, it really did work, the Burnley centre-backs couldn't handle him. We should let me him start with Sordell, so that Marvin can feed off any flick-ons that come. Especially with two out-and-out wingers at the club in Yeates and Kightly it strengthens the case to include Big Chris. Dyche isn't doing too bad, there are 3 worst teams out there then us, remember we are still a few places above the relegation zone and one win can change the whole outlook of a campaign!
Sean O Driscoll did well with donny for years before things got stale , he is out of work , understands tight budgets ,and understands the need to play attractive football to at least keep the crowd entertained! Wouldnt need compo and would prob be relatively cheap! However he wont be unemployed for long! The longer Dyche is in control the more unhappy I am becoming with his unintelligent slow inept style and tactics! I did vote give him a month , I have changed my mind ,Baz needs to act now!
These 3 worse teams , who are they? also interesting to note the bottom 3 have all sacked their manager so far this season!
Emiatss Fair point about the Burnley game and I wouldn't object to the team being set up in that fashion for away games - if we are going to break at speed. Home teams normally press the away team so it would work. But SD (as you rightly point out) is playing 2 players now that both prefer to play 'off' another strike partner and at home! That has to change as teams are coming and sitting back as you would expect an away team to do, then scoring on the break whilst we shoot a paultry 6 times(?) in the whole game! (I could be mistaken as it was mostly a cure for insomnia).
