I say review his position at the end of the month, but i fear 2 away losses next which will mean 4? defeats in a row and we will almost certainly be in the bottom 3. So although he may/may not last the month imho depending how Bas feels.
I feel sorry for him too, and that's a very good question. The trouble is, much as it pains me to admit it..Malky did seem to have a far clearer idea of what his plan was. Right now, we just seem to scramble a lot. Too many players chasing the same ball. We can't keep the ball for love nor money. Something is going wrong, and i know the buck stops with the Manager, but i'm not sure he's to blame. Maybe we just went through too many changes and haven't coped with them.
Voted "not yet" because while I don't think things are bad enough to warrant a mid-season change yet, a sustained run of poor form off the back of the season so far could lead me to change my mind. I agree with this statement, although it's still too early to tell whether or not that rethink would involve immediately sacking Dyche. I'm never a fan of getting rid of a manager, but let's say we were minded to. Part of the problem is that there is no obvious candidate to act as caretaker manager (GT has categorically ruled out the idea in the past). In football, the boss has 10,000 "customers" to do that for him (I despise calling fans that, but we're talking about football as a business). But the club's position with its manager appears to still be that survival is the minimum expectation, top half is the target. Poor as we still are, we're about half way between the two.
Surely GT has some input. I would have thought he's giving SD advice, no? He can't be sitting back and watching and keeping schtum, surely!
He doesn't like doing so off his own volition, because it could be seen as interfering. But he has always maintained that his door is always open to the manager.
i'm sure SD said he was in constant contact with him. It seems to me that GT needs to have a bit more input than he is. It must worry him. It's a shame he rarely makes it to Vicarage Road.
I'm not trying to plead poverty on his behalf, but given that his only source of income is from watching other matches for the media, he goes to a fair amount.
If we did sack dyche we would surely have to bring someone with experience in but who is even around atm? And not mcclaren please :\
I worry a little bit about Sean Dyche. He was appointed to have some continuity in the Watford Way but he has replaced our good players with experiecned more physical players who to me are not as quick or skillful. Defensively I think we have improved from last season. With Dickinson at LB when we have our first choice back four out we haven't conceded so many goals this season. However in the attacking final third I don't think we have a clear plan of playing. We don't seem to be able to keep the ball as well as we did last season and we lack that creative player that can unlock a defence (hopefully McGinn can make a difference when he returns). We seem to have a plan of playing quite a few long balls but Garner and Sordell play upfront and i think it is an example of Dyche's tactics not matching his team selection. Sureley if he wants to play long ball Iwelumo or Deeney should be playing! And i think we lack pace in midfield too. I don't know why he keeps overlooking Whichelow and playing Forsyth. Whichelow, to me, from last season looks like he is ready for Championship football and IMO is a much better player than Forsyth. Overall, im not doom and gloom because we can improve but i think Dyche is overlooking some of the younger players who are pretty close to being ready to perform at this level in favour of older more experienced players who aren't as quick or skillful
Totally fanciful I know but could we lure Kenny jackett back to the vic ! Cant afford Martin O neil ! Ok a left field suggestion ..Beckam as a player manager ! I dont know I,m clutching at straws ! All I do know is we at present are poor! the buck stops with the boss! Theyre people out there I am sure waiting for a chance ! Whilst I\m at it anyone know of anything about woans input! coz maybe if we could get an expienced no 2 in that may save SD\s job!
it was all soooooo poor! We are a side with no confidence no game plan and as Silver10 says Dyche has brought nothing but rubbish. I did think after our last match at Soton we would draw a line under it and move on but, unfortunately it didn't happen. All our excellent youngsters whats happened to them.....Forsyth, Hogg, CI, fatty Miffin are no better then the young lads!!
There is no plan of attack, well there is just crossing a ball hoping, wishing someone will get on the end of it. It was the same at Bristol Rovers in the cup game, lots of crosses but nothing on the end, could not score in a brothel! We need another way of attacking as we have been found out far too early in the season, if we had points on the board and then we got find out fine. Sadly that is not the case, every game is the same cross after cross after cross we will continue to struggle if we do not come up with something else!
We will never know, but maybe Cowie would have signed a new contract instead of waiting for Malky to get another job...that Conway chap (who is miles better than Foresyth) would have joined as would that Wiggins bloke apprently. I am sure the youngesters would have played more. we would have tried to play footy. I wasn't Malkys biggest fan but he did at least try and get us playing.
Would concur with that W-y give us time to find a replacement before the transfer window , coz we have a lot of dross to shift!
Agree with all that Silver10 has said. If there was a resign button I would have clicked that as it would have saved us the compensation. I no longer feel that there are 3 worse teams than us and if we wait until December we may be in a very deep hole. I have stated on the other poll a few weeks ago the reasons why I felt Dyche was not doing a good job so won't restate them in length but it is hard to defend the volume of desperately average players he has brought in blocking our own young players, the unattractive football, the rigid and predictable tactics, the defeatist press conferences and most importantly the results. In the owner's position I would be asking my senior players what is happening behind the scenes and unless they give him a ringing endorsement I would accept an error of judgement has been made and take action now. If the senior pro's believe in what he is trying to do and still support him I would give him another month.
