Stole this from twitter- Wow.... Just seen the comparison between Pochs last 30 games and Gross's 30 games. Just imagine how ****e the squad was that Gross had. This really hammers home just how bad it is. Gross - 30 games 10 wins 8 draws 12 defeats Poch - last 30 games 10 wins 6 draws 14 defeats
Let me guess... * A quote after the Saltypool game that was blatantly taken out of context * A blatantly misleading stat that tried to turn Lo Celso completing the least passes against Saltypool into an Eriksen-bashing session
Gross was in charge of 27 league games in total 97/98 Palace (L), Everton (w) Chelsea (L) Coventry (L) Barnsley (w) Villa (L) Arsenal (d) Man U (L) west ham (w) Derby (L) Blackburn (w) Leicester (d) Wednesday (L) Bolton (w) Leeds (L) Liverpool (d) palace (w) everton (d) chelsea (L) Coventry (d) Barnsley (d) Newcastle (w) Wimbledon (w) Southampton (d) Wins 8 Draws 7 Losses 9 1998/99 Wimbledon (L) Wednesday (L) Everton (w) Won 1 Lost 2 So Gross's record is wins 9 Draws 7 Losses 11 34 points Pochettino's last 27 matches are... Won 10 Draw 5 Losses 12 35 points It also ignore a CL league final. I could also mention the 6-1 home defeat to Chelsea and us only being safe from relegstion 3 gsmes from the end of the season. And I could slso point out the stark differences in how many games we played against the top teams in each run. Our record is not good but for others to put inaccurate "facts" on social media does not help a rational debate. Moral? It aint called twatter for nothing.
Fair enough it isn’t accurate but the difference is 1 point. I’m not for any second saying Poch is as bad as Gross but it shows how bad things are atm. Plus this team according to many people is the best we’ve had in decades and the team Gross has was dire.
I know you ain't...my dig was at people putting up unfair comparisons. I think we have a right to question what is happening but for people to ignore the CL run last season is ridiculously biased imo. And while I (like you and others) have been critical I (again like you and others) can also see that we have been unlucky with injuries...Lo Celso, Sessegnon and Ndombele havr sll missed considerable amounts as has Foyth and Dsvies. There are undoubted issues but imho I think that we will get stronger as these 5 get game time. The performance v Liverpool was a huge improvement (though not great by a long way) as was the performance v Red Star. I am hoping we see yet another step on our road to recovery tomorrow... this is why I still hsve faith in Pochettino.
I think that the stats are quite revealing but like RCL I hope that the small green shoots of recovery seen in the last couple games are continued today, because this slump cannot and in all likelihood will not be allowed to go on much longer. With regards Gross, he was just hopeless, and whilst the overall quality of todays team is undeniably better, he could call on the likes of Anderton, Ginola, Ferdinand, Klinsmann, Carr, Judas, and world cup finalist Nicola Berti! So there was a smattering of very good players available to him and Ramon Vega and Ruel Fox!
To be fair Tanguy's only missed two games through injury while Davies has been fit for about 5-6 weeks now. I'd also say Foyth could've featured more as he played 90 and 77 minutes for Argentina yet was benched on his return against Watford (maybe understandable due to travelling back), got 15 mins vs Red Star and was then dropped completely for Pool. Whilst Gio has certainly missed a considerable amount, I think he needs to be getting more than 5-10 minute cameos otherwise he'll never truly get to the fitness levels we need him to be at. Would be great if he started today, get about 60 minutes under his belt and begin what will hopefully be a successful spell at Spurs for him.
I get we all have different views and opinions but how does anyone still have faith in a manager who doesn’t seem to be doing anything to change this 10month slump? Spurs haven’t won an away league game since Jan, that is absolutely ridiculous. Poch won’t do the decent thing and resign as it will cost him a cushy pay off so it’s time for Levy to get rid and get in someone who can shake these players up.
It's wearing thin. Still a yes and will be until the end of the season unless we find ourselves in a relegation scrap before then. Top 4 is gone. We have to accept that reality now before it hits later down the line and hurts more. I just can't see anything remotely resembling a plan, shape or direction but will continue biding my patience until we see Gio and Sess get some proper game time.
