Sometimes I eat in Michelin starred restaurants, sometimes I eat in McDonalds. In fact, sometimes I eat from the dodgy kebab van that parks next to the BP petrol station. Just depends on what I fancy at the time. There should be no shame in eating what you enjoy as long as you do it in moderation and take care of yourself.

I draw the line at oven chips, though.

Do exactly the same with a good dry-fryer and the result is to die for just like your oven but much quicker an less, much less electricity used. ££££££ :1980_boogie_down:

Know what you mean - but surely McDs chips cannot be said to compare to ‘a properchip pan chip’
Unfortunately my Mrs is not British so chip pan is banished - so a good fat cut potatoe chip from a good dry fryer is a blooming good second best. Skinny chips - like skinny women are not on my wish list. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

In no way can a macdonalds chip be compared to a proper chip

I'm with you on that one, I do a similar thing... southern fried seasoning is one of my faves..

Or another shout is mixing them around in the tray of fat and juices from the previous day's whole roast chicken / roast chicken thighs.. it works for roast potatoes too and beats plain goose fat hand down <cool>

KFC ones aren't up to much though.

I think it's important to appreciate the chip in all its many and varied forms and to recognise that a different occasion calls for a different type of chip. I wouldn't want a chip shop chip with my McDonalds or a McDonalds chip with my steak pie. Its horses for courses with chips.

The undoubted kings of the chip though are the Belgians.

Now the definitive end to the chip debate.
My mam was the worlds greatest chip fryer - no discussion.
Her chips were a minimum of 1/2’’ thick and had to be fried in LARD.
And throw in an egg after the chips and tea was then completed with 6 slices of buttered white bread. :emoticon-0162-coffe

I'm not keen on Burger King.

I usually have the Zinger rice box when I go to KFC, so no chips there either.

    Looking forward to McDonalds reopening.

Can't beat a cheeky MaccyD's now and again.

I'd agree with that, last time I went to BK the chips were like cardboard and they used that low sodium salt. If I wanted healthy food I wouldn't be buying a burger and chips.

Becs, you can drizzle olive oil all over me if it involves tossing around and being eaten afterwards

    Just don't tell Mrs D

You should ban yourself for this comment. It's an outrageous claim.

Give over Becs, I don't look even twice as bad as my avatar makes out, the blue skin is healing nicely and the swelling from my nose job has gone down considerably!
