Fair comment. Fortunately boards don't kick a ball in anger. The current board is a bit "Curate's Egg" though....... easy to forget that, in the recent past, they have overseen the best Prem / Euro / Cup runs of the last twenty odd seasons. Not too mention that they have also increased the infrastructure of the club off the field to unheard of levels. But, yes, last season was nearly a complete bummer.
Expectations? More attacking, front foot play. Passion from MH 1-2 fairly mediocre ins & 1 out we don’t want Boringly, mid table, pushing 10th. Usual BS from LR/RK & zippo from Gao. Yep, that’s it. What do I want? For MH to make the individual players & team believe in themselves & to over achieve. Yes, please.
The upcoming season will be identical to the last couple, the top 6 will be miles clear and everyone else could go down. We will finish around 10th I'd say but not mathematically safe until about the 35th game. Similar to the season under Puel but without the cup run.
So it's Burnley at home first up! Will that be start of the relegation battle? First win? Measure of the pending race for a 'european spot'? Two goal-less (toof-less) attacks struggling on a sunny Saturday afernoon?
I'd be very impressed with Hughes if he manages to get us up for this game....too often the first game is a case of players still wearing their flip-flops. I will be impressed if they show all the signs of having received a good kick up the bum.
We are rubbish and our board have made all the wrong moves the last couple of seasons. I’m expecting another relegation battle. Will change this prediction if we manage to sign some good players, and get rid of some of the rubbish ones.
Could be worse. We could have let Mark expire, then go to Spain for MP3 saving at least £2.5M in wages. Bright side.
I have no expectations. I hope it’s is better than last season, yet before any signings I think it will be a tough season.
But what if we kept all our players and made no signings in the summer? I would still back Hughes to keep us out of the bottom three and produce footy worth watching. Yes, I know, but it’s the summer. If you are not going to wear sandals now, when?
When the Jehovah Witnesses call, I tell them I worship regularly at St Marys and that seems to keep them happy.
