When I said it was on another post I was implying I hadn't said winning three on the trot although I did say was a couple of good results can quickly change the complexion of things. We don't need to be a rocket scientist to know a win would do us all a wonder of good. The team lacks self belief as a team because in the most part it's pretty new with the arrivals we have had. In my opinion we have added some quality which over time will help. Going forward we obviously now have to average more than a point a game to get near the 40 mark. That's doable.....also we just have to get above the bottom three teams whether that is Norwich, Bournemouth and Watford or some other teams I don't care. Think Ellis will be even more willing next season to open up the purse strings because of the additional revenue being generated. Sometimes you just have to live to fight another day. If that is what this season means I will live with it. We need stability and firing the manager or him walking is not what we need at the moment. We just need to keep our nerve and keep improving the squad. If that comes from within...Watmore, Beadling etc then great. If not in an ideal world come January we would add a forward, central defender and a left back then great. Again, I don't think that will happen....it will all depend on our league position the moves we make in January if any....let's get stuck into West Ham and see if we can get the show going....
Eggflip is trying to play 'poker' with the 2 of spades, 4 of diamonds, 5 of diamonds, 7 of clubs and the 9 of hearts. No matter how he shuffles these he will not come up with a winning hand. He will have to get rid of a couple of cards (at least) and hope he can come up with a semblance of a competitive hand. Throwing all the cards in and hoping for a better hand is not the answer for me. There's a lack of cohesion in the side and I'd like to see some putting in a better 'shift. Johnson clearly hasn't settled and Fletcher is gone at the game for mine. Sunderland have been unlucky in some games and could have had more points on the board but the fact is there is a need for a major shake-up. It is still early but a result would be handy at this stage.
Dick's Bols said: ↑ Thanks Marcus, your view of the game gives me some hope. I misread his comments late last night, reading 'passion' and nowt else, fek! I hope DA stays and I hope it's a really big didgeridoo for Tigerpoo when May comes around; mind he would probably enjoy it I am reminding you of your words Dick's Bols No I'm not Funky, a deaf dumb and blind man could see we are in need of a shake-up. That goal from Lens was a touch of absolute class and then he goes and spoils it all with the stupidest foul. This is where a Captain needs to assert his authority on his team-mates on the field and where a Manager needs to assert his authority off the field. It hasn't happened. I don't know who can 'step into the breach' at this stage but whoever it is he is going to have to really motivate the team, the Club and the supporters. A very hard ask at this stage and any prospective Manager will be asking the Board the hard questions on 'authority' and 'finance' as he'll need to 'get rid' of some and bring in the necessary players to stabilize the team. Sunderland, imo, are too good a Club to be involved in 'great escapes' every season.
We've had more shake ups than enough, we're ****ing laughing stock with our annual shake ups. What was needed was investment in a quality long term CB and competition at LB. I think we've done good business with the acquisitions but I always said we won't get the machine working unless we obtain all the parts. I don't think we needed Dick to leave for this 'shake up'. We needed appropriate investment in the team and a deaf dumb and blind man could see stopped short of that. We don't a chance when John O'Shea is out the team ffs. How sad is that? It's shambolic. I don't blame Dick, I don't blame Congerton I blame the chairman of the board. The man who issued the budget.
