Of course it wasn't just the private jet, but the jet represents his attitude towards running the club. I'm pretty sure the jet is just the tip of the iceberg and he was likely claiming millions in expenses
Im not gonna agree or disagree with that comment but the way you said it was as if the private jet could've given us millions towards to club for transfers
No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying if you use the private jet as a symbol to represent his expenses account, he had a choice between a private jet and a squad that can compete and he chose the private jet. I'm saying the private jet is the tip of the iceberg
I know what your saying now but as it read first time round it was as if you was saying something different
He was claiming 5000 a month for his office. What else was he claiming? Not taking a salary sounds like a perfect excuse to claim for all his living costs on his expenses account. I bet his yacht is on there, his house, his eating at restaurants etc.
Bates never took a penny in wages ...... bollocks, he just wanted the tax man to see he wasn't being paid. he was however claiming all sorts in expenses, and even had his wife on expenses too. every meal he had whilst in Monaco was put on expenses for entertaining. The bent mate who had the dodgy jet company was a bankrupt, but Bates was a mate from Chelsea days. Bates gets reciepts for anything and would bet he even prints his own. I know one company chairman who once stopped at Toddington services for a piss. he bought a can of Tango and invoiced us for it as he was entitled to do.
At the very least he was a total hypocrite - bragging about cutting costs and splurging on himself, e.g., the private jet (I agree with Marko's sentiments above).
The way he talked about "saving us money" with the jet deal, he's actually convinced himself in his own mind that it's a necessary expense, more necessary than a better contract for Howson, Gradel, Snodgrass, et al. That is how deluded this man is.
