Arshavin was NEVER worth 80k a week, even when we signed him. So yes, I do know the concept of what a contact is, trust me, I know contract dealings better than you do. Neither was Gervinho ever worth 70k a week when we signed him. It seems your the dim-witted one who doesn't understand what a contract is, or you should never make one because you'd make the ****tiest contracts in man's history.
So you think Arshavin was about to come for 50K, but we just went there and first up said "80K AND IF YOU DON't LIKE IT WE MAKE IT 100K"? Imbecile. Why do you think contract negotiations take so long if we just go there and make a generous bid right off the bat. You know how long Arshavin negotiation was dragged? STOP embarrassing yourself and keep away from the razor blades.
That's exactly my point! The players we chose to buy (for the salaries which needed to be paid) have failed. With the exception of a few, the bulk of the buys post invincibles have not worked out. Liverpool are an example of what happens when one too many punts in the transfer market (and they are gambles) fail... ie failed transfer policy driven by failures in judgment...and it is management that are paid those handsome salaries to make the correct judgment calls. ie they have FAILED
I don't give a **** how much Arshavin wanted to come for, he was never worth 80k a week, and neither was Gervinho when we signed him. How am I embarrassing myself by stating these obvious facts? You've proven your the dim wit who knows nothing about contract negotiations or deals, and that you should never ever head any contract deals.
That's another argument though. And I agree that we haven't exactly made many great signings in recent years, though since Arteta, most have been good.
Arshavin was the most desired signing by Arsenal fans in AGES. I don't remember when there was more excitement with a player we've been linked. He pretty much saved our season too.
Btw, why do you keep mentioning Arshavin? And quiet on Gervinho? Was Gervinho worth 70k a week when we got him? And does Ramsey deserve 55k a week? Which I suspect is most likely anywhere from 60-70k a week now. Does he deserve that?
What you think he's worth is irrelevant. 80K is what it took to get him. The other option was not getting him.
If it costs 70k a week to get Gervinho, then thank you very much, I'll pass, then, now, and forever. And Ramsey is not worth more than 50k a week. If that means losing him, no problem. We should be paying high wages to players who DESERVE IT. RVP wants 150k a week? Fine by me. Walcott wants 100k a week? Fine by me. Arshavin wants 80k a week? **** off and goodbye, nobody is going to pay 80k a week for him, EVEN WHEN WE SIGNED HIM AT THE TIME. You know nothing about contracts my friend, **** off.
Here too 70k was what it took to get him (he had other prospects), and Wenger thought it was worth it to get him. Whether he should have got him or not is another matter.
Arshavin was most definitely worth 80k when we got him. His performances against Holland and Sweden was stunning in Euro 2008 and his performances for Zenit and Russia for about two years was also stunning. He led his team to the UEFA Cup and on the way he helped them trash teams like Bayern. When we got him he proved why he was worth that money.
Gervinho was NEVER worth 70k to get him, there's nothing called that's what it took to get him, he was NEVER worth that money, and if he wouldn't come unless we didn't pay him that much, then tough luck. So in your stupid world, companies and business' should get ripped of? HAHA as I said, you know **** ALL about contracts my friend. Nobody would've paid Gervinho 70k a week, so he'd either stay with Lille, or come to Arsenal.
Not really another argument..the general thrust of the debate has been why we have ended up wigh so many average players on high salaries...some saying socialist type wage structure but I'm offering the view that it is mainly due to punts in the transfer market that haven't worked out. It really isn't that complicated as no one can say that these players have been played out of position or hampered by injury (which is a justification of Diaby and Rosicky... both of whom would be world class otherwise) They've made the wrong call one too many times.. meaning the good players eventually get fed up and leave.
No, because part of my argument includes Gervinho, and Ramsey. You're the one who conveniently picked one player I mentioned Arshavin. In fact, I'd even be willing to say ok with Arshavin. But now with the OTHER PLAYERS I mentioned, Gervinho, and Ramsey, what do you have to say about their wages?
It was reported at that time that Atletico Madrid had made a higher bid, but he preferred Arsenal. He was one of the key players to help Lille win the league in more than 5 decades. That you think the club would pay more than they would need to is absolutely ridiculous.
Athletico made a higher bid, in what? Wages? I call bull **** on you now, it was 'reported', yeah, sure. If you think other clubs were going to pay 70k a week for Gervinho, then your full of ****, and even lying to me, and to yourself. So don't be pathetic now. I don't think the club pays more than they need to, I KNOW THEY DO. What exactly do you call paying Ramsey more than 60k a week????????????????
