Out of interest, say you finish fourth again and ten points or so behind first place, does LVG deserve another year?
Madder than LVG? http://uk.reuters.com/article/2015/09/01/uk-soccer-england-united-dimaria-idUKKCN0R12U020150901
Depends on Europe and the domestic cups. If we bomb out of all those and maybe end in the Europa league and just scrape 4th then we've stagnated. Get to the 1/4 or even 1/2 finals of the CL and win a cup then we've made some decent progress. The goalkeeper situation has been handled terribly and IF we don't get another forward and still let Wilson go, leaving us with essentially two strikers till January at least, then he'll be judged on those decisions if it costs us. Rightly too, it's his ****ing job to get the squad sorted.
Regression or stagnation = LVG under pressure Progress = LVG continues. For me the main (but not the only) objective of his tenure is done. He managed to get us in the CL proper (admittedly with huge help from De Gea!) . We were on the slide and we needed to revamp the whole squad. Those who think it should have been easy because of the money spent, just look at the RS who have slipped into long term mediocrity.
Yes. By Real Madrid. Not us. (Gk situation) Worried times running out for incoming strikers though. Letting Hernandez go and possibly Wilson means we definitely need a couple coming in.
No, the whole goalkeeping situation has been handled poorly by us. It really shouldn't have gone to the last second and we should have ensured the deal went through, if we're left with De Gea he will be definitely miffed and we know he's not the keeper he is when his concentration is down. It could be ages until he's back to anywhere near his best. Romero isn't good enough, simple as that. The only half decent news is that apparently Valdes and van Gaal have made up so we've got a decent first choice if De Gea won't get his act together. This could have been sorted long before the last second of deadline day. We're equally as culpable.
Its in no way out fault. Are you suggesting we should have bent over for Madrid and accepted whatever they offered... I don't think so. We've done everything right and not allowed real or de gea to dictate the terms.
No, I'm not suggesting that. The deal could have been concluded though, I can't believe that Real made their acceptable offer in the final seconds of the transfer window. **** sake, if you honestly truly believe that everyone connected with United can do no wrong, ever, then you need your head read. This should have been sorted. If De Gea gets his head straight we're left with a goalkeeper we never wanted to leave so it's all ok. It might take him a while to do that though so in the meantime we're very shaky at keeper, which isn't good. De Gea is now on a **** wage. If he's any sense he signs a new contract, gets paid good money, and if Real REALLY want him in the summer they pay the transfer fee of £30 million or **** off. That's the best case scenario, obviously.
I'm sure Real will be telling De Gea to sit tight on his £35k a week and that they'll pay him the difference as a signing on fee when they get him on a free next summer. He'd be a fool to believe them.
