I agree with you, but it will only make things worse. Some people will now see him as a little sulking kid. He needs to ignore the boos and see we our not all against him. If he carries on not showing respect towards the fans that do, it will get worse for him.
Well I for one hope Guly plays on Friday and has a outstanding match and scores a screamer to move us 3 or 6 points clear of Reading.
Butters is still painfully slow, and his defending scares me more the Harding's does. It doesn't change just because he had one ok game and did a good cross.
I reckon that's why he was angry at Billy for not passing to him...he feels he has to prove something. Desire is a good thing, but desperation isn't. Want to win on Friday, but a great performance from Guly would be the cherry on the cake.
Yes I see your point, not as solid in defence as frazer, but I was pleased he played and we kept a clean sheet.
When was the last time Guly scored, or even got an assist though? I'm pretty sure it was way back in January at Forest. The vast majority of his goals and assists came in the first third of the season when we were regularly battering teams. I don't dislike the guy as a player, but I also don't think he's the "genius" that many on here make him out to be
It may be true what you say about Guly not scoring recently, but that's true for the whole team. Something has changed about the way we play, because we are no longer scoring throughout the team...even Lallana hasn't scored many recently.
I remember standing beside this guy at the Middlesborough match who booed Guly at every touch. I asked him why he was doing it and the wee bahstad said "because he's rubbish". I grinned smugly at him after Guly's second.
When you play a CAM/CF playmaker at RM then what do you expect? He isn't a winger and never will be at 30 years of age lacking pace as it is. It's a bit like playing Hoovield at LWB Moving on, does anyone remember the stick Jermaine Wright used to get? Wright played decent as well and was valuable considering the utility role he played. He played CDM, CM and filled in at LB/RB (which isn't easy, particularly LB) as far as I remembered. Yet the boos he used to get were ridiculous. I remember one game he played out of his skin and he was booed almost all game. It eventually wore off as reality hit the crowd he was the best player on the pitch that day, pathetic.
I do remember that. Jason Euell used to get a fair share of abuse as well. Both of them are black - maybe we are a bunch of racists
Personally I think it's racism. It doesn't mean we have racist fans at all as a whole. It's a minority who are ****ing idiots. It's the same at almost every club I imagine.
Ken Monkou was black and there was alot of rumours he was gay. Was he booed?, no. Wright-Phillips wasn't booed until he became a thief as with Dyer. Ulrich Van Gobbel wasn't booed nor was Waigo.
But, Waigo did have a funny dance. It's strange though, Waigo was worse than Puncheon and Guly but is the most loved of the three.
Do not believe for one minute that Saints fans are a bunch of racists...you only have to listen to people getting cross about it to realise that. I do wonder however if it's because a black man is easily recognised. Sometimes the game moves so fast that a mistake by a white player cannot always be assigned correctly, especially from a distance. You'll notice that when someone remarks on a great cross by Fox and someone else says that they were sure it was Cork.
Deano and Morgan are difficult to tell apart, too. Could well be though. I think it's more the fact that Guly doesn't run like a headless chicken, instead focusing on positioning. Lazy people will see him not sprinting for 90 minutes and assume a lack of work rate - not to say that all other players do run around, just it can be hard to tell who they are. Guly is easy to recognise.
Guly is better defensively than De Ridder. His positional sense and cover for Richardson/Butterfield is a ton better yet he gets stick! He puts in more tackles, more interceptions. De Ridder is clueless defensively. It is all a complete mystery to me. You have a good point about unable to tell certain players a part at times fran, but that is rare. 99%+ of the time I can tell. I think it's the people that don't understand positioning and the players actual positions that don't have a clue half the time
Yeah but De Ridder runs about a lot (often uselessly) which is what makes people assume he works harder.
