I'd go for a strike system ending the perpetrators career with no recompense for the parent club on the third strike.
3 strikes and out? Do we really need to see more Americanisation of the game?? What's next, a sin bin?? Video reffing? Time outs? Some of you have no respect for the history of our great game.
Sort out the diving... or go! Manchester United fanzine demands Moyes rids the club of its cheating' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...er-Moyes-rids-club-diving-culture-leaves.html Even their own fans are sick of it.
We have a review panel for dubious goals why not for simulation. Get the panel to view video of each game and then adjudicate .If a player is found guilty he should get an automatic one match ban and the club a 20,000 pound fine. That way the possible errors made by referees (in real time)can be corrected or confirmed putting pressure on the clubs to force the players to rethink their actions ,knowing "Big Brother " is watching and they will get caught and it will also cut out all the media talk ,Managers comments and allegations, and bitterness from supporters who feel top clubs get the preference from officials. Yes it needs a bit more thought and some tweaking but it is a starting point and something needs to be done. A trial period in England may even convince FIFA it's worth considering.
This post was made prior to viewing the later comments on one that preceded it "DIVING".It seems others are also suggesting retrospective punishments and tougher action should be taken to stamp it out.
Heh.... it's funny, I don't remember it seeming to bother them when Sir Alex was in charge and they were winning...
Fair comment but don't you think they 're worse this season than ever before? Young has always been terrible for it and Januzaj wasn't around last season but even Rooney is at it. It must be bad if even their own fans are getting narked off with it.
Their fans are getting narked now because Howard Webb has shown (in the Spurs game) that a player's reputation can count against him.
Are you kidding me, you dont watch Liverpool how the **** would you know. Biggest divers in this league this season. januzaj Young Welbeck Kagawa Hernandez Rooney oscar hazard Ramirez Suarez has dived once, yes once without contact since coming to this league. As for going down easy, 100 players each week are guilty of "going down easy" in all positions all over the pitch, attackers midfielders and defenders and even keepers. All fall over to buy a free kick. For me the list of people above go on a run into the box with the intent of buying a peno. Suarez has cleaned his act up, so why do people still have a go at him. He gets booed when Paulinho kicks him in the chest, your lot kicked lumps out of him last game and he gets booed by all fans every time he gets chopped down, Mourinho calling him a diver when he clearly was fouled and so on. Ridiculous considering Maureenho has Hazard and Oscar, two players who are bigger divers than Suarez ever was. Notice Liverpool. 0 bookings for diving btw please log in to view this image
Surely this is a joke? Nonsense. Are you blind, he allowed all manner of **** to go unpunished by your lot.
Agreed Happy and a good point. However, I'd argue that it is some of the clubs and players who have no respect for the history of our great game. Therefore, the game has to consider making amendments in order to deal with it. I'd give any player a five game ban (for first offence and rising with each subsequent offence) and the club/player a fine for simulation. It would soon stop. The worst thing for me is the screaming in the ref's face. Sending off and a 10 match ban immediately. The captain should be the only player to be able to question the ref's decision as it is in both codes of rugby. I regularly watch one of my grandchildren (under 14s) play and increasingly I see both the diving and screeching at the ref being mimicked. Hardly respect for the history of our great game.
Rather than calling them divers, I think people like the little **** Suarez are better described as cheats. The trouble is commentators are making it an acceptable part of the game by describing players as 'winning' a penalty or free kick. Also, I recall the head ref at the time (Keith Hackett?) admitting refs were told to look after the likes of Ronaldo as people wanted to see their "skills". If they had such great skills, they wouldn't need to engineer situations that leave players wary of tackling them. I got a bit of stick for objecting to goal line technology, partly because I feel it took resources away from bigger issues that would have a greater benefit to the game than the nonsense that is goal technology. Reviewing and punishing cheats later would probably not even take a full season to have a massive effect.
I agree, we definitely need retrospective action. The FA can't ignore it forever, hopefully it's on their list of things to implement for next season.
I would like to see the punishments for diving (and other forms of cheating) handled by the PFA. After all, it's their members that are impacted by the actions of these cheats. Imagine - Player "J" dives, wins penalty and his team scores. The resulting win relegates the opposition. The players for the opposition then have to take pay cuts as their contracts have relegation clauses, some may even lose their jobs completely. Now, if I was one of those players who suffered as a result of one of my co-workers cheating, I would wont some justice and/or payback.
