Well, I rejiggled my view to express it in a less blunt manner: Fans and managers of teams with players who have a reputation for acting in a controversial manner shouldn't just support them but be willing to recognise when such players act inappropriately, whether that's by diving or handballing, etc. I'm not just referring to Suarez either. I think if fans were more willing to criticise their own players for diving, etc, they would be more likely to change. If that gets taken down I'll be peeved.
Good re-write. I agree, and if that gets taken down, I'll dive in and defend your opinion and ask where the post has gone. Link..?
I suppose I agree with this in theory. But look- your entire team cheated in a much larger scale with a much larger impact on not just the game, but on people who had little to do with the game. And the FA itself is somewhat sketchy. The entire competitive landscape is skewed by teams like Man U. etc. having a huge advantage in their ability to buy players and their influence on the league. And over FA is FIFA which we all know is completely corrupt. In that Saints game, Maya took an elbow to the head that-- if not intentional-- was certainly reckless. And that could have impacted not just this game but many games after it as well as cause physical injury bad enough to wreck his career. I don't like diving either, but on a moral/sporting scale, it's small potatoes. They are much deeper problems in the game to worry about. I think if British fans in particular, were to take a more practical view of diving and look to see what causes it and how it can be fixed instead of making out like anyone who dives is the worst person in the world then the problem could be fixed. In Rodriguez's case, I honestly don't think he dived. But for the sake of argument, let's say he did. Saints played on, Rodriguez looked surprised at the call, there was no stopping of play with Saints players running to appeal to the ref. So that is one that probably you have to let go. Honestly, if the ref doesn't blow for the penalty no one would even be talking about it. Halsey simply blew the call, just like he blew the call on Maya, and two weeks ago he gave Villa a call on a handball that was inside the box but he said it was outside. He's just a bad ref.
