Saw that - Newport were robbed.

The Morecambe penalty award was ridiculous. In no way was it a foul in the first place and not even inside the box anyway.

We don't know what would have happened in a penalty shoot out, but Maddeley robbed Newport the chance to find out.

He's always crap at CCS. Was shockingly bad today.

Should have had VAR. It is installed just not used for non Prem club games. Why?

Fair point BFB, but is he a short fat bald twa*, asking for Clingon! :emoticon-0103-cool: A word that best describes Masky, one that sums him up....starts with a C....ends with a t? Anyone?

Why did Madley stop reffing a few years back?

From Wiki.

In the 2017–18 season, Madley was adjudged to be making too many dubious decisions by a number of former Premier League referees including Keith Hackett, Graham Poll and Mark Halsey.[6][7] He quit suddenly in August 2018, when he "decided to relocate due to a change in his personal circumstances", according to a statement by PGMOL.[8][9] He later revealed, in December 2019, that he recorded a video 'mocking' a disabled person and sent it to a friend who subsequently forwarded it to his employers, for which he was dismissed and left the ranks of PGMOL referees.[10][11] He subsequently moved to Norway where he officiated in lower league matches.[12]

In 2019, Madley signed on to referee in the 6-a-side World Cup,[13] explaining how much he enjoyed the 6-a-side football game. He also refereed the 6-a-side World Cup final in Crete in 2019,[14] as Russia beat Poland. He also mentored other referees during the tournament. On 13 February 2020, following discussions with PGMOL, it was announced that Madley would return to refereeing in English football, initially at grassroots level, before joining the National List of referees, enabling him to officiate League One and League Two matches, for the 2020–21 season.

He clearly continued his career of "dubious decisions" on Monday. The cheating tw@t.

We should reminisce on the poor refs we’ve suffered over the years.
My particular gripe was with one Brian Stephens of Stonehouse Glos back in 80’s.
He was good though compared to the East German who reffed Wales v Yugoslavia in the 1976 Euro quarter final- as reminded by ‘Wales A Football Nation’ on BBC this week.
Shocking<yikes>

A difficult question..... how often have we been able to say, that ref was a good one, or even, he was okay? Goes with the territory I suppose.

The best refs are the ones we don't notice and have the ability to let the game flow.

We have had some real shockers and they seem to be getting worse. It's like they feel they have to put on some sort of show.

One name that sticks in my head from much younger days that I seem to recall always made me groan at the sight of it on the match day programme was Lester Shapter of I believe Torquay.
