Hold on a minute. He's getting nailed unjustly I agree 100%. He's getting nailed unjustly a) because Fergie says it must be so and b) because, as high and mighty as our beloved Football Association and media pretend they are, they are still a bunch of jingoistic, mealy mouthed slugs who need 24 hour headlines....however he is not getting nailed for **** all as you suggest. He is still cheating when he doesn't have to. He's good enough not to have to do that and to suggest it has to be that way in todays modern game is wrong IMO. I can suggest plenty of names of very very good players who do try and stay on their feet whenever possible. My standpoint isn't a noble one it's an entirely practical one. I personally feel he serves us better as a player when he's on his feet doing what he does best. He simply does not need to go down every time he's touched, many times it costs us possession and leaves us with a man on the ground as well. That's not good for the team so when he's doing it I have issues for that reason more than any other. Again you're totally right about loving watching him play. In full flow he's a little magician that gets you off your seat and takes the breath away. The lads got more to give in that department and I've said many times the more we get to see of it the better off we'll be as a team. He's a world beater at his best. Imagine how much better off we'll be if we could get the consistency out of him
diving is an art... gotta deal with it... badly done diving is just like blazing a shot over the bar or a charlie adam tackle... nobody likes to see it but a class dive is a skill all in itself at this point. we simply have to stop living i nthe past where guys could tackle each other, forwards stayed on thier feet and a handshake was a goal celebration not a PC prematch requirement
ditto, if he was better at simulation then none of this would be an issue. once he improves to the level of others like Young he'll be sweet. Still, Valencia threw himself flying to the ground in what was a terrible dive.. very little on that, valencia's dive was rubbish, Hernandez has pulled one definite awful dive possibly two
I don't condone diving and never will, but... Suarez has a reputation now so it does not really matter whether he gets good at diving or not. Plus it doesn't help that he is public enemy number one after the Evra affair last season. Also, I think people need to remember he didn't exactly have a glorious history before joining us - handball in World Cup, ban in Holland for biting, etc...
Loking at the incident I think Suarez was taking the p*** out of the TV pundits who make such a big issue of his tendency to "hit the ground" as he had a huge smile at the time.!!
All true, Dev. But as we've said before- no-one is more important than the club. Suarez is a great player and a wonderful asset to the club. I would be so much happier if he would stick to the legitimate aspects of his game and cut out the histrionics. However, I think it's the package we get- and have to take the rough with the smooth. I'm not sure he's ever going to change, and controversy will dog him wherever he goes. Still a bloody good player though, whenever he's on the ball you never know what's going to happen next. He's a real game changer, and there aren't that many around.
No they are United players and have done as Suarez has done, getting it? Duhhhh franks and beans mate is all i can say to you
I don't think Valencia dived against Liverpool but let's say that he did. That's one example of a Valencia dive. Suarez does it at least once in every match, which is why he's singled out as a cheat. It's been noted that Suarez is an incessant cheat, it's not hard to understand. Only a moron would excuse Suarez for his blatant cheating. He's a decent player, he doesn't need to cheat but it seems to be second nature to him. Why do you think the press would pick on him as a player and Liverpool as a club? It's not as though Liverpool are considered one of the top clubs nowadays.
this is they way i see it, either you can feel the sport is not that you loved or you can see that the whole world is on a diving buzz and effectively this is what they do all the time.. then come here for 15 years now and our game has more english divers than foreign divers. If the game is what it is you can still hope one day it'll change but right now diving is a real skill in the game and it is arguable that tackling is no longer a skill as we can't make the type of challenges we could and win a ball cleanly without a stupid ref whistling it up when a guy doesn't dive! IMO the skills of the game have to have an element of artistic gymnastics involved... or synronised diving or whatever... same as heading, shooting and passing.
But it has been reviewed by many, his booking was in fact a penalty, he should have had possibly 4 and certainly 3 penalties. Almost always there is SOME contact. Young has shamefully gone into the box intending to go down Suarez acted after he was actually fouled, not premeditated, he's just sh!t at decent simulation ffs yeah, not a dive. Look how in the last from behind angle where he tries to get his left leg in front of Johnson to MAKE contact. Joke pen all day, Dive all year
This is absolutely no different from what Suarez did.. no fking different whatsoever. It's just a different diver every week with United, Young made the mistake of doing it 2 weeks in a row and got noticed. Just falls over with 0 contact
this also, there was contact when he fell on to te keepers arms but as the clip says the best thing is he's english eh, those foreign divers.. evil No idea why this is not as bad as what Suarez does. Notice the screen before you play, you can see Rooney's leg coming down on the keepers arms Yet Suarez gets labelled dirty cheat and rooney Great Englishman
Bale dived in tonight's Wales vs Scotland game and won a penalty, let's see if he gets half the media coverage Suarez got last week.
