Surely it should be Patate Al Forno? Looks delicious, would carry a scary number with this new thing of putting calories on dishes in restaurants.
Saturdays dinner endeavour - Slow-cooked Thai Beef Massaman Curry. With potatoes, red onion, peanuts, coconut, tamarind and fish sauce. Served with basil leaves, rotis and an ice cold lager. Delish!!
Tried the Potato Al Forno last night Hoop-Leif (without the anchovies as Mrs SW doesn’t like them) and went down a treat. Will undoubtedly be used again. Cheers for the recipe Hoop Leif Massaman looks a hit too
Had it with duck breast in an orange jus and array of vegetable and a very nice Barolo accompanying everything.
That sounds (and looks) wonderful, I love curry dishes, especially lamb vindaloo, with Nan bread, although I have toned down the spiciness somewhat in my elder years, in some part to accommodate my current partner's tastes. Now in my younger days my friend Bob and I used to frequent The Guru Indian restaurant in Halifax, Nova Scotia and used to comment on the "burning ring of fire" the next day!
Once again backing up on this thread, is "Toad in the Hole" basically just sausages cooked in a Yorkshire Pudding mix?
I've seen it all now. Went out to one of the chippies in town last night, my regular one has now closed as Marco the owner has retired (devastated, it was best in town). Taxi driver in front of me, a rather large chap, ordered a pizza - thought to myself fair enough....until all four quarters of the pizza were dunked in the batter and then deep fried. Now, jnr likes a pizza crunch but I find the idea wretched....but a whole pizza it was then taken from the fryer and put in a pizza box...where upon it was drowned in vinegar and salt, and then covered in gravy!!!! Holy ****, and they wonder why life expectancy in the west of Scotland is amongst the lowest in the UK
I thought a battered mars bar was bad. Holy **** that is disgusting!!! I hope you went for the steamed fish and boiled potatoes Steels. Oh and the Bordeaux and Cuban cigar of course
Another trip yesterday with another couple to the lovely "seaside" community of St. Martins and visits to Spinney's Seafood for more of those wonderful lobster rolls that turned into our supper, rather than lunch treat, as we decided to have lunch at Molly's Pub with beers (the Irish "Goodbye" Red x2 again for me) and a marvellous chicouteri board that included sliced sturgeon, sturgeon pâté, pepperoni cold cuts, black olive dip, crackers etc. Also got this lovely red Cardinal at the local gift store (when Cardinal's appear the Angels are near) and we took those lobster rolls "to go" with the special bun that you lightly toast in a frying pan later ath home, the lobster meat with Helman's mayonnaise and of course the bed of lettuce for the lobster meat to sit on to preventaling the bun "soggy". Also as a "take out" you don't pay the 15% HST tax on the food order ($3/lobster roll @ C$19.99). So I missed following our match and what a nice surprise to have finally got a victory against the Venky's chicken chokers, made possible because I lined up those damned Dozzell now Paal Pillows!
