By an odd coincidence we are having classic poncey toad in the hole tonight with onion gravy….. ….followed by ice cream, purveyor unknown, probably Hagen Daz
Have you tried either of the two Hagen Daz limited editions for Xmas? Irish whiskey is nice but the rum and biscuit flavour is top! (Gone through 5 tubs in the last fortnight......)
Not yet, they have the little individual tubs on virtually permanent special offer at the supermarket, had loads of them……
I would just point out that, my now oft used phrase "poncey" was made after an initial wind up from Stan towards me. I thank you.
Stayed in the Bettyhill Hotel last night (very doubtful any of you wil be popping in for a bite to eat, might be a bit remote for you!). Had a fabulous meal - chicken stuffed with haggis and wrapped in bacon, served with garlic new potato mash and veg, with a whisky sauce - it was as good as it looks, totally delish (and a bit poncey) - accompanied by a pint of Orkney Gold IPA
Hey, wine ponces! My Naked Wines Christmas wine crate has arrived 6 bottles of red 5 bottles of white A 2.25 litre box of very drinkable Portuguese red 2 bottles of fizz A bottle of port Plus ‘gifts’ of a bottle of Spanish gin, some ‘artisan’ mixers, an old fashioned tin of Spanish extra virgin olive oil and 4 rather nice German wine glasses. Had a lot of the wine at various stages before, all very good stuff. Excluding the ‘gifts’ works out at less than a tenner a bottle. But there’s still a long time to Christmas…….good job my wife ordered exactly the same package on her account unknown to me, and it arrived to my delight at the same time.
The box just arrived - by Christ it's heavy! I've assigned the Cremant for Christmas morning, the Chenin Blanc to accompany the turkey, the Appassimento for the evening and the Port for later with some cheese. The rest might not make it to Christmas.
Ok fellow ponces. It’s the wife’s birthday and she has requested a Mexican feast, so I have made fresh guacamole, prawn ceviche and the 3 hour slow cook beef/pork chilli from the Roasting Tin. I think I have bought the UK supply of limes and coriander in the process. The kitchen smells great! She has also requested frozen margaritas, which the kids are handling. Could get messy. Especially for a Tuesday. I’ll report back on the results….. PS @Stroller had a bottle of the Naked Wines Xmas Cremant as kick off. Very good.
