Pre-footy dinner tonight from the Roasting Tin.

Miso covered chicken, aubergines and shallots with ginger, chili flakes and sesame seeds. With a lime, sesame and soy dressing. Served with rice and spring onion and an ice cold lemonade.

Bloody tasty, highly recommend this one.

Something a little simpler tonight but by God it was tasty!

Loaded jackets with cod, peas, mayonnaise, American mustard and Cayenne pepper and topped with cheddar and a pinch more Cayenne. Served with lemon-butter enfused baked beans. And of course, the now obligatory can of ice-cold Irn Bru.

    Try it!

    Mate, it was bloody gorgeous.

First dish I've tried from the book so far but if they all turn out as good I will be recommending it.

The Black Daal recipie in that book is absolutely sensational and on the easier side to make, as long as you're around to stir it every so often as it simmers.

The new job is keeping me out of the kitchen - not getting home til late so mostly quick dinners (pasta, chilli, curries etc).

Making a nice gammon joint today with mashed potatoes, pureed carrots, tenderstem brocolli and a nice onion gravy.

Got an Aldi special for afters, Sicilian lemon and raspberry roulade - they are double yummy!

    Aldi roulades are very nice.

We had one last Christmas, can't remember the exact sort but pretty sure it included bourbon and maple syrup. It was VERY nice.

Celebrating my Mum’s 82nd birthday, she’s round feasting with the family on lamb shawarma, couple of butterflied legs of lamb which had 24 hours marinading in a paste of lemon juice, olive oil, ground cardamon, ground coriander, ground cumin, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, salt and pepper, my daughter made a fantastic Greek yoghurt dressing with garlic, lemon juice, coriander, cucumber and pomegranate seeds, all bunged together in wraps with shredded lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, avocado and hot sauce as desired.

A hit. Also nice weather meant we could eat outside. And it’s not a Roasting Tin recipe!

Whenever Steels is within dinner range……..this one was seriously good, don’t know why (except for the need to plan in advance) I don’t do it more often. Both kids pretty hungover and they finally perked up over the meal.
