Done - I would agree with the earlier comment on the impact of agents on clubs finances. I would also argue that the short term view of clubs is extremely detrimental to grass routes football on this country at least.

Just make up your data. It's only an undergraduate level?
Maybe, he wants to do a thorough job so he can get a better understanding of what he's studying?

Always have to try and be clever, you fat sod.

Salad dodger.

In case you didn't know, that's the fat police

Done, but I don't think you are actually asking the right questions.

Many owners are gambling, think about how much clubs were bought for 10 years ago and how much people pay for them now?

Some of the losses made can be offset by the amount the club will be worth when it come to be sold in the future. It is a gamble of course because you can get relegated which knocks millions off the worth of a club. I know some fairly rich people involved in sports franchises (mainly motor racing), they are all trying to build brands and their worth in order to sell for a massive profit in the future. They all do it with investment and sponsorship money as well as their own cash. Interestingly some of these people were involved in football previously.

The TV rights issue is interesting, as the Premier League becomes more popular world wide there is an increase in TV rights money, this has been very steady in recent years. BUT will the bubble burst as it did with the music industry? will people watch free streams instead of paying large subscriptions? You can now watch all the premier league games for free in HD via the Internet if you know where to look. How long will it be before there is a crash in the TV rights money and the subscriptions have to come down in order to stop people watching illegally.

Stick to the gym meathead. Then you might actually do a thorough job yourself.

Your insults might actually be accurate and I might actually get offended.

This is a dissertation thread.

Don`t think you two bickering is helping him much. Just saying like....

My point exactly.
But he's getting his information from everybody through the survey. I doubt he has one bit of interest in what gets said on here, and he probably won't even come back to this thread.

People are gunna bicker somewhere Pops, and if anything, I suppose it's better it disrupts an outsiders thread then one of our own posters.

Done, but the questions could all give different answers dependent on the club you support, TV Money for us is important. For Citeh less so

I have done the survey albeit from this distance but have been into football since the '40s and the changes have not always been for the better.

A relevant point to put on here though is that Adidas are apparently "not happy" with ManU's style of play even though the company is making money from their sponsorship. Not sure how they will get away with that as the deal is over ten years and they are getting a commercial return on their investment.

Today we have Guardiola putting the EPL on notice that he wants to manage here when he leaves Bayern in the Summer. Be interesting if he chose a lesser club to build into a massive one, but what are the chances he will go to the highest bidder.

Maybes we have reached "the tail wagging the dog" time in football.

He is just gathering data that can be used as quantitative analysis that can then be used to support his arguments he will be using in his document. Without the data he is gathering his arguments would be deemed as personal opinion and would therefore see him get a much reduced grade..

Thanks for all the responses. I am trying my hardest to keep track of each forum and reply to each person. The stuff you're discussing will still help me when designing my focus group questions in relation to the topic so I appreciate the comments! Some of the things mentioned are in my dissertation but might not be blindly obvious to those taking the questionnaire (such as different teams will have different opinions is why I have included an option for each team so I can compare that data).

Was going to do it, but I refuse (where ever possible) to fill forms out, I can only fill them in.

No, I'm not in happy land.

I see Gordon Armstrong has found himself a protégé, is he conducting you via PM Nathan?

Don't let him corrupt you my friend.

Hi, my name is Tom Beckingham and I am a third year student at Liverpool John Moores University, studying Sport Development with the business of sport. I am asking for you to take 15 minutes out of your time to complete a short questionnaire for my dissertation project. The aim of the project is to gain an insight into fans perceptions of who is responsible for the current financial state of the Premier League. I would be extremely grateful for your time.

Why the **** did you choose Liverpool?

Do you have a fondness for eating rats and calling everyone La?

Liverpool John Moors has a cracking for Sport faculty.

I'm sure the nightlife probably had something to do with it as well.
