Good post Roller, typical that after a positive performance the comments aren't about how we take it forward but about this rubbish, like this thread\forum, I could almost see our noses coming above the Mire but people want to drag us back under all the time. We want a a team from chairman to ball boys (err persons) and if people don't buy into it they should go, doesn't matter who they are.
Anyone else think this maybe a bit of reverse psychology by Harry . Adel to come off the bench against Villa and play a blinder ! You read it here first folks .
Roller - the PR team at QPR is responsible for all of this. Of course they could stop it if they wanted. See the post from DT on the same topic. This is about building a Brand by any means necessary.... any noise is good publicity....
Robina - if you were a conspiracy theorist - which I fall into - the bog game for Adel to rise from the Ashes and sell tabloids is vs the SCUM next week - could all have been planned months ago - bungs paid / scripts written....or maybe I need to get a life - let's see how it all works out..
I think the media strategy of giving Harold a free mouth for the club has backfired a bit at the price of pissing off the fans but we remain in the spotlight so it's all good exposure long term Conspiracy Theories? Naive PR and marketing? we all can make our own minds up but the fact remains we remain in the spotlight IMO that is no accident when accelerating a brand position The crap thing is that the fans have to pay the price … it's our minds they **** with Rubbish? … think on a very basic level of say Shirt sales, who we have signed recently and the target markets of building QPR Think even more basically: A man paints a fence in a row of houses in plain view … It is possible that he may even pick up more work by getting a neighbour fence to do also … either way the owners of all the houses will question if their fences need doing… The painter has appeared just to do his job
At least Warnock still demonstrates some passion for the game and his team:- Neil Warnock: FA charges Crystal Palace boss with misconduct Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has been charged with misconduct for comments he made following the defeat to Chelsea on Saturday. Warnock said that referee Craig Pawson was "influenced" by Chelsea players during the Blues' 2-1 win at Selhurst Park. please log in to view this image Compared to Harry:- please log in to view this image please log in to view this image Could almost be:- please log in to view this image Like he used to:- please log in to view this image These days his passion seems reserved for moments like this:- please log in to view this image
Couple of nights ago I saw the "Rumours" era Fleetwood Mac in concert. Now, this is not my kind of music (their earlier, Peter Green, incarnation is much more to my taste) but my wife is a huge fan so the treat was arranged. I knew it was going to be a very long evening when the only tune I vaguely like (the Formula 1 theme music one) was their opener. And so it proved, this aging group (Christine McVie is 71 FFS, John McVie has cancer, Fleetwood is diabetic and the other two are clearly mad) played for 2 hours 40 minutes, and clearly gave it everything. So while I was not really engaged or moved by the music (Mick Fleetwood's drumming aside) by the time it finished I was in awe of the sheer professionalism, dedication to entertain the 15,000 people there (in the Indiana Pacers basketball stadium, too big for music but yet again a demonstration that the US understands sports venues) and the fact that they were evidently enjoying themselves a lot. I'm assuming they don't need the money and that this was mainly about doing this because they enjoy it. My question is, why the f** can't anyone connected to my football club show even an ounce of the same self respect, professionalism, joy in their own skill/talent and control of their own ego's that these old codgers have? Sick to the back teeth of the lot of them. Anyway, my treat time has arrived, 3 consecutive evenings in a variety of Chicago blues bars.
Good call Stroller, think that is on for Saturday. We have the joy of 'doing' Chicago with two native (but currently exiled) Chicagoans and I am letting them decide everything. Local knowledge is king!
I had to check that it was still going. I was in Chicago in 1978, staying with locals, and a night at Kingston Mines is one of my favourite memories of the visit. Someone I was talking to at the bar told me that the Stones had been in town the previous week and that Mick Jagger turned up and got up on stage to play harmonica with whoever was playing that night. Probably apocryphal, though. Enjoy.
