People like West Ham fans simply because they fall for their media persona as loveable East End rogues which is myth. This media portrayal comes from Green Street, Eastenders, Only Fools and Horses (although set in Peckham near Millwall) etc. The truth is it's a club fuelled with bitterness having lived in the shadows of Arsenal, Spurs and now Chelsea for so long. If you'll chant and mock the death of the wife of your own club legend then racial abuse is like doggy paddle to you. The Matthew Harding chants have been sung endless times and will undoubtedly be sung on Saturday. Spurs fans get a lot of stick but fair play to them when Osgood and M.Harding passed away they showed Chelsea Football Club the utmost respect. Arsenal would have done the same as well. Unfortunately with West Ham's away support you've got these young greasy haired kids in their 20s/30s from Essex with 4 Range Rovers parked in their drive with their Dads telling them all about the "good old days" of the ICF and West Ham in the 60s. Reality is nicking a packet of Fruit Pastilles from the local Tesco express is as "bad" as it's got for them so football matches in a large group are the only way they can exert their adolescence. It's a shame because I grew up with proper West Ham fans who wouldn't condone this sort of chanting.
