    What do people want?

The board content is determined by users, admin just try to help uphold those views and I've noticed more politics creeping in, and it's a vague line on what is and isn't political.

Do users want to keep the existing arrangement, where it's generally not acceptable unless it's a 'special' case, or is the general mood different now?

Judging by some of the petty squabbling, insults and bitch fights on here I'd give it a miss

The no politics' rule is fine as it stands. That said, the current thread is not a problem.

That's my favoured option, and for those very reasons, and I suspect OLM is even more in favour of the no politics/religion rule than I am, but it's not our board.

I just wanted to make sure we're still acting as the board users want.

I'm in favour of discussing politics.

There was a recent poll if you recall, and I think only around 50 or so people objected to the idea of being able to discuss it on the forum. That is 50 out of around 3,000 registered members. The vast majority didn't care either way. But the minority's views were upheld.

If it's restricted to certain threads, or a thread, then I genuinely don't see why people would have to wet their knickers about it.

I don't recall the poll to be honest, but I've a sieve for a memory. Part of the problem is that in the past, it's led to disagreements that infected other threads. I have found some of the more recent discussions interesting and reasonably sensible though.

I did suggest using the Premier league board for the discussions, but sadly it's hogged by a few with some peculiar agenda, so I don't see it as a viable option.

I've said that my favoured option is to carry on as we are, but that only works if it's what most users want. The difficulty there is that most people registered don't post much, if at all.

Maybe some sort of trial period? One designated thread and if it infects the board, as some fear, bin the idea.

As long as its civil, and people accept that we all have differing opinions and party loyalties not a problem.

    **** politics
    I'd get far too opinionated

No politics no religion (unless for special events like a national referendum or a Tories v Catholics lacrosse final)

I'm seeing nothing so far to suggest we need to change from the current arrangement.

No politics - the Brexit thread served its purpose as a one off special event but let's keep it out of here.

    Politics on forums is pointless.

Too polarised, and almost always detracts from the core subject matter (football, here).

    Keep the ban.

I don't really like politics on the internet, the insults and crap talked over the last few months is evidence why. Nothing more annoying when people bring it into non-political forums/threads.

Opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got one.

My opinion, for what it's worth, is we start allowing politics on here it will turn people off from posting.

Who's seriously interested in listening to a strangers political views on a football forum?

No politics and no religion suits me fine and let's face it, if I stop posting the whole board would become defunct in days.

    FACT.
