Wouldn't call it a disaster, probably a huge setback is more appropriate. If we were heading in the right direction, like the whole management team would have us believe, then we would not have lost this game. So its obvious we aren't there yet and every loss saps the confidence. Losing at home with such a strong side is just asking for criticism.

We shouldn't fall into the trap of believing this to be a Mickey Mouse trap, particularly as this competition represents the most significant piece of silverware in the club's history. There is this mindset that the competition is pretty meaningless alongside the PL title and CL, so the likes of Wenger and Purple Nose Blotch Man have traditionally fielded reserves and youth players. But, as soon as they get to the semis and look like having a chance of winning the thing, you see them drafting in the big boys to bring it home. Suddenly it becomes something worth having.

For a team like QPR it should be approached as something very much worth competing for. In fairness to Hughes, this is what he did... but he came up short.
