Poor sods. This is what's wrong with football. L2 bound players on £300kpa. How can a club in our position afford that? How can they be earning it? If all teams worked out how much they could afford to pay and operated within a budget maybe the football leagues would be more financially sound. It would be interesting if teams had to publish what they can afford to pay in wages and how much they actually pay.

To get the best players one has to offer the best wages. To offer the best wages the club has to make bigger profits. To make bigger profits one has to have a large fan base. To have a large fan base the team has to be successful. To be successful one has to have the best players. ****.

There is no way we're paying anyone £6k a week! I'd be surprised if the majority of Championship players are at that level of wages.

Yes actually working within the club - obviously I have no way of proving that its 100% true, but I do trust the source of the information. I'm not surprised if Beavon is earning £6,000 and Grant was meant to be our 'big summer' signing with various other clubs from league one & two also after him - but yes I agree this wouldn't make me splash out £6,000 a week on him.

possibly LC has a source within the club telling him something different. honestly, unless people have links with the player in question, the secutary, owner or GW, i doubt they know the exact figures

I think the figures you are using are monthly not weekly and may well include playing bonus.

Wander some years ago it was announced that the average championship player wage was £10k i expect it is still some where in that region.

As for £6k for those 3 no way on earth are any of them worth that kind of money so i doubt that is what they really earn. Possibly a monthly salary i wouldn't be suprised by that or £6k with numerous bonuses and if they all come out then maybe thats how it gets to £6k but no basic weekly wage would be that amount at this level for a club of our size.

But then again this is hayes who ultimately signs it off so you never know.

I suspect the £10k figure is largely driven by clubs that have recently dropped out the Premier League and still have a high wage bill plus clubs like Leicester splashing the cash around. But I am only guessing and it does surprise me that clubs are still prepared to pay big wages like that and cause themselves so much financial grief in chasing that Premier Legaue dream. The likes of Norwich, Blackpool and Burnley have shown it can be done on a sensible budget.

I agree with what gravey and new-wycombe are saying about that £6k figure. I could almost understand it if it was monthly and if the player hit every bonus target in his contract.

I really doubt that we are paying £300K a year. It just doesn't stack up against our income, or that of our competitors.
I would guess (and it really is a guess) that we would be paying a max of around £120-150K.
    Does that sound right?
