Mannone had the game last season where he ran ut and headed the ball and when it came back at him, instead of just pick it up he tried some sideways fly kick, missed the ball and let in the goal. It must have been hilarious to non-Arsenal fans. It was clearly a case of the pressure getting to him and panic setting in! So i have to say i ghad my worries about him, but he did well - Mert helped him alot which i was pleased with.
The media are only focussing on the fact that we've failed to score in our opening two fixtures.Obviously the media will remark that RVP would have scored in both games whilst conveniently forgetting we failed to score in both of the first two games last season even though RVP was in the team.Whilst we haven't scored we haven't conceded either so that is a very positive point.Stoke hardly troubled our defence yesterday so hopefully Steve Bould's coaching is starting to have an effect
Don't think so. Creating chances wasn't a problem in my eyes, just the execution or final ball into the box didn't work out effectively. I think when our new players have settled in, the goals and combinations will automatically come.
I agree. We controlled the game and looked much more composed on the ball, giving us a reasonble quantity of chances. It's what Arteta gives us, and now we've doubled that with Cazorla. When Wilshere is back we'll be even better. I'm not sure why Walcott didn't start ahead of Gervinho on the right. If he had, we might have won.
If you look at either game statistically we created enough chances to win both comfortably. If our forwards can find some sharpness in and around the box we will be looking good. However this needs to happen quickly or we could find ourselves languishing behind the leagues leaders again.
I thought the media were kind to De Gea, they repeatedly mentioned his shot stopping ability (which is excellent), whilst glossing over his inability to deal with even the simplest aerial ball.
