The future never arrives….because it actually morphs into the present.

The main problem is that I now only see matches on tv ….which means I can pause (as I often do if the other team has a ball in a dangerous position such as taking a corner). I can even turn it off and pretend I really need to wash dishes/put out the bins/call a cousin I really really have to speak to despite ignoring them for months. It’s easier to watch in the ground where you live in the moment.

Pretty much a final note from me on this amazing day and victory. I was with a Leeds supporter yesterday, a fan from school days apparently and is now 81. I’ve loaned him my match programme as he was unable to attend the match and as I handed it to him he said

‘obviously I wanted Leeds to win and I thought at one point we’d drawn level, but to be honest, your team were the best equipped team on the field and a consolation for me is, that goal from Adam Armstrong was pure class and if we had to lose then that goal was the the one to lose to. I hope you do ok in the PL for us it’s back to the drawing board’.

Football can still provide true sportsmanship!!

 

Although I'd argue our goal wasn't pure class. It was very good build up and a good finish, but if they had maintained even a half decent defensive line then we don't score. One mistake arguably cost them £200m!

 

Hmm, think you're understating the goal a bit there. The patient build up, the way we passed our way through their midfield and then the through ball and finish were top drawer.

 

They had obviously targeted Ampadu as being likely to lose patience and break ranks, which left Adarma completely unmarked. They will have had different strategies for different defenders, and that was the one that worked.

 

It was all very good, yet it would have lead to nothing had they not had a defensive line you'd expect to see in Sunday league. Don't get me wrong, we took full advantage of their mistake and punished them, but if we had conceded that we would be furious as it is such a basic part of defending.
